Tony Todd vs Avery Brooks

We know now that Tony Todd tested for the roll of Benjamin Sisko. Did they chose the right actor?

Todd is one of Trek's finest guest actors, no question. But he doesn't stand a chance against the genius that is Avery Brooks.

Hard choice. I almost wanna say Todd because any time Brooks has to flip out his acting always becomes hammy and amateurish IMO. I don't think Todd would run into that problem. On the other hand, I really like Brooks' look, and his acting during the times when he isn't required to flip out.

I always loved Todd's performances. But no one can replace "The Sisko", Avery Brooks.

Man this is a tough one, good topic! Todd is the shit. It feels like blasphemy to imagine it. I love Brooks, so no disrespect, but Todd could've worked.

I think Todd might have worked, but I'm glad it was Avery Brooks, so I voted accordingly. Todd was better as Worf's Klingon brother Kurn, and was great as older Jake Sisko. -- RR

I was happy with Avery. I think Tony Todd is a great actor, but I think his voice would have been a little grating over 7 seasons.

I really like his voice. It has a nice timbre. Not mentioning it to simply be contrarian, there's just something about his voice I've always liked.

He's a vastly superior actor.

I quite like Tony Todd - he did a great job in The Visitor, I liked his Kurn, and I have liked him in alot of other things.

But I think he is better in guest roles.

Definitely Avery Brooks for me.

I really liked Brooks as Sisko, so I voted for him. The other advantage to that arrangement is that Todd could play older Jake in The Visitor.

Avery Brooks...No one else..he IS Benjamin Sisko...Great choice .

Its difficult to imagine anyone else when youve seen him for 7 seasons.
