Were the nacelles ever purple in the movies?
Not in the movies themselves, but they were purple in some of the early TMP publicity photos (the ones with the early rounder TOS-style bridge), like this one:

IIRC, it might be one of those really weedsy debates where people argue the nacelle lights stayed purple, and were changed to blue when the footage was composited together, so purple is a more authentic recreation of the original model.

ETA: I did some poking around the Facebook group to see if anyone else commented on the missing struts. I couldn't find the original comment, but someone posted a screenshot of Gary Kerr replying to another post saying the saucer supports weren't necessary and the main trunk of the stand held the model fine, but TOMY's legal team doesn't want them to say that so they won't have a liability issue if someone's model tips over. So it looks like you don't have to attach the supports, but it's an "at your own risk" thing.
