News TOMY Star Trek Diecast Ship Replicas

That is absolutely gorgeous. The attention to detail is just as stunning as on your replica uniforms and props. You’re a legend!

Out of curiosity, I’ve seen you in your TOS uniform… Did you ever splash out on some Monster Maroons?
Thanks!
Actually I'm not a big fan of the Red uniforms. BUT, perhaps soon...

But still no "stretch goals" type incentives even with the success of this campaign...? I do understand just sticking to the original goal and make it the best possible but my imagination runs wild with all the "little" details that could be.

In interviews around the launch, they said there were no stretch goals or add-ons to keep things simple. I'd be happy if a larger response meant more money could be plowed into the model (the hangar deck in the prototype seems a little under-detailed, for instance), but they haven't even said that much.

Those under details like the Hanger Deck you mention are exactly the "little" details or upgrading they could do. Maybe they will and then surprise people as I was with the transparent bridge details from the TOS-E. One can always hope!

I wonder if someone will come up with a 1/350 light up dry dock to put around this ship? With those work bees, guys in space suits and light panels? How about a battle damaged version ala TWOK/TSFS? Or even a self destructed version from TSFS?

1st backer video is up!

I do like that they are adjusting certain parts because of feedback. Many people know a lot more than I do on how accurate the details are. Just hope they don't over promise something as they did with the screw caps on the TOS-E. Love the idea of the "spotlight" lighting up the registry though... nice touch!

New video from Adam Savage on the TOMY refit model. There's some close-up photography of the prototype, and this one goes in deep on the manufacturing process and structural aspects of the model.

Wonder how/if this video increased pledges. I don't know what the number of backers was before this was posted but it shows 4070 backers at a little over $4, 500,000 as of 8/28/2024 05:30 EST.

Yep, I had one of those (all 3 models of the series, in fact). Sadly, the kit came without the docking ring piece, so it never really looked right.
