The hull is the Jeffries original concept shuttlecraft with more Klingon-y wings.
I wonder if that's TOMY's invention, or if that idea had been established some comic, tech manual, fan art, or other source. There isn't anything that looks like it on the Memory Beta list of Klingon shuttles, but that's not definitive.
I assume it's from somewhere, since TOMY doesn't seem like they'd do a completely original design. I had thought maybe it was from the old McMaster plans, since I think that's where the idea that the box on top of the D-7's engineering hull contained the hanger deck seems to have originated, but I checked my copy and there isn't a shuttlecraft design at all in them.
