News TOMY Star Trek Diecast Ship Replicas

TOMY just sent out a survey to see which ship previous buyers would want next. The choices are:

26” (1:350) TOS Klingon D7
26” (1:350) WoK USS Reliant NCC-1891
28” (1:900) TNG USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D

I'm so torn between all of these choices!! I WANT all 3 but which one first?!!!

edit: After agonizing over it I went with the Reliant. As much as I would want an E-D the Reliant will go nicely with the refit-E.

Heh, i was just coming here to post this. I went TOS Klingon D7, but I think the 1701-D will be the most likely one to prevail.

I would expect the E-D to come along eventually so having either the Reliant or D7 would be better to go along with either of the Enterprises already done (well, will be done when the Refit ships). What is the ratio of the two Enterprises, the TOS and Refit?

edit: just remembered that the Refit is 1:350 so definitely hoping for either the Reliant or D7.

It’s interesting that it’s the TOS version of the D7 they’re potentially considering. While I like its clean look, it’s admittedly not as visually interesting as the K’tinga, so one would think that version would be more popular as a choice. I guess as @mindx2 mentioned, they’re thinking of “companion” ships for the TOS and refit. Of note, when they did this survey two years ago the choices were the refit (which apparently won), TOS D7, 1701-D and SNW 1701. So the SNW 1701 seems to have been swapped for Reliant.

D7 would be cool, but the Reliant or the Ent-D would be better morels - more lights, details etc.

If they were going to scale them, the D would be a big model.

I don’t think they will, but if they did…
The 1701-D will be 1:900, the others are all 1:350. A 1:350 1701-D would be six feet long.
I still haven't seen a really good Ent-D...the underside of the saucer looks a bit flat even in some kits.
I sometimes wonder if the 1701-D is a funny one to get "looking" right because they used three different models during the original production that all had slightly different proportions.

I think there's a lot in that. The Eaglemoss build-up Ent-D didn't really satisfy everyone because they tried to blend the 6 footer and the smaller 4 foot model. And now there's the CGI Syra-prise too.

Personally I would always go with the more graceful 6 footer.

That’s my favorite as well, the 4-footer always seemed squattier. I tend to rewatch the early seasons more, and since it was used the most there, I’m more familiar with it.
I hate how it's always a mix of the 4-foot and 6-foot studio model or is the CGI model.

The 4-footer never seems to get any love in merchandise even though it had the most screen time in TNG.

To my eyes, the only replica of the Enterprise-D that seems to be based on the 4-foot model only is the Numskull Advant Calendar. The thickness of the saucer, the shape of the deflector dish, the shape of the pylons, and the slope of the neck screams 4-footer to me.

I selected Klingon D7, without hesitation. I expect to be disappointed.

I would like them the generally base the Enterprise-D on the 6 footer, however with the correct arrangement of the 10 Forward windows please.......

And yes, the D gets my vote.

Same here. The TOS d7 and Romulan Bird of Prey have been under represented across all Star Trek diecast and toys. They have made them here and there but not in this scale. I don't want a paltry 28" D after getting Two 32" 1701's. I want something to scale with my 1701's.

I don't think a studio-scale six-foot mass-produced Enterprise-D is on the table. Nor is it in its own room, which it'd require to be displayed.

Well that's what I mean. I know we can't have (or even want) a six foot D. But I'm not interested at all in a little 28" model next to the larger 32" 1701's... 😂. So I would much rather they make ships they can do in the same scale. So bring on the D7. I'm totally happy with my diamond select D. 😂

I love the D but it's just too overdone with the detail like a lot of other post TOS ships. I really do not want a smaller scale D to go in the larger scaled 1701's. In the other hand if people still feel they need a D and it's the next choice. I will save some cash... 😂
