Today's Reports On Trek Footage From New York

I was born in 1983... I first saw star trek in 1985, it was reruns of TOS. I didn't see the movies until late '86.

I watched TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT from day one, I saw every film in the theaters since Trek V.

And I am far more a fan of TOS and the Kirk era films... Go figure.

It's all that watching TV when you were 2 years old. :)

Ya. And to this day I still remember the moment I turned on the TV and saw the rubber vomit attacking spock. It's ingrained in my brain and I've been a fan ever since. ;) Then in mid 86 I saw Space Seed, which for years I called Space Speed , that was when my mother told my father he should rent the first three movies because "Kahn was in one of them".

I'm 25... And, I've been a trek fan for 23 of those. That's a scary thought actually.:vulcan:

I dunno. Nick Meyer had a pretty condescending view towards Star Trek and he made TWOK which is commonly considered the best of the Classic Trek movies. I see no reason why Jar Jar Abrams condescension is less palatable than Meyer's.

Meyer also made Star Trek a lot more militaristic than it had been before as well, he did admit in his commentary that he tried to change more of the overall look and feel of Star Trek, he obviously was prevented from doing too much so he changed all that he could.

I wish that Abrams and his treehouse club would have just been honest and up front in the first place.

While I'm not exactly crazy about the reboot idea, it would have saved me from all of the angst of seeing so much that visually and otherwise was inconsistent with this film being a true prequel to the Star Trek I know and love. Now that I understand it's a reboot, the choices seem less lazy and disrespectful than simply consistent with trying to make a buck using someone else's baby as a platform.

Not to anyone born after 1970.
Odd statement. I was born in 1975, and most of my friends around the same time (roughly 73-80) and for all of us Trek "begins" with Kirk and Spock in our minds and then leads into TNG and all the stuff that came after. I was raised watching reruns of TOS and seeing every Trek movie since TWoK on the big screen. Your "anyone born after 1970" statement seems a bit presumptuous.

Huh? I was born in 1976 and Star Trek:TOS was the first trek I saw, as was it anyone else for anyone else my age watching TV (in the UK) as a children.

Also I bet if I went into the street and give people a picture of Kirk/Picard and then Spock/Data - more people could name Kirk/Spock that Picard/Data.

Change 1983 to 1980 and 1985 to 1987 and '86' to '90' and you'd have described my way to Trek ;) :D

As an aside, I remain convinced that someone watched "Journey to Babel," saw the little golden midgets in the fezzes greedily picking over the buffet table full of multi-colored geometric shape food, and conceived of the Ferengi right there on the spot.
