So in the end Picard and Crusher end up together, as do Riker and Troi...arguably both relationships that were in play as early as the pilot episode of TNG.

Given how things ultimately evolved between the four of them, how do we feel about Picard-Crusher and Riker-Troi?

Personally I'm kind of okay with how Riker-Troi ended up. I don't really like their relationship per se (Troi-Worf was a lot more interesting to me), but "Nepenthe" does a really nice job of showing how they've built a life together (indeed, it kind of bugged me how S3 semed to unwind some of that).

I'm not really a fan of how Picard-Crusher turned out. Jack doesn't really do anything for me, and it feels a bit too much like Jim Kirk and Carol Marcus...except that Kirk at least knew David existed and kept his distance because Carol asked him to.

While I thought it was a cop-out that the relationship happened off screen, the flirtations during TNG were great, IMO. McFadden and Stewart were pros, and they played like a couple that should be.

I much preferred the depiction in AGT, where they'd had a relationship at some point but it hadn't worked out.

I always liked Picard/Crusher, while I'm not happy their relationship happened off screen and Beverly went no contact for two decades I do like that they ended up together.
I didn't care for Riker/Troi, I never saw the appeal.

What makes you think that Picard and Crusher end up together? They're friends but I think they're just co-parenting. Isn't Picard with the Romulan lady?

Both relationships work for me. They both had plenty of other relationships in between. I presume Riker and Troi were getting it on at times throughout the series, sometimes after a late night poker games, as was suggested in “Violations.” I do wish Picard-Crusher was less tragic, but that’s PIC.

Worf still pining for her was too much for me. But then so was Riker cursing like a WWII POW, being kind of bigoted against Changelings, and one moment being an atheist then telling Troi he’ll be waiting for her in the afterlife with their boy. Like wtf? Characters, meet assassination.

I was certainly shipping Picard/Crusher back in the day (Attached, All Good Things). But I was shipping Picard & Laras more. But I am OK with how it turned out, and I love Bev's badass turn in S3 of Pic.

Never liked Riker-Troi much back in the day. But I liked the way PIC handled their relationship.

I’m good with all of it. Working within the limits they had in terms of actually developing plot arcs, they did well and the pairings made sense.

Eh. As I said a few months back, I much preferred the AGT take on Picard-Crusher, where they'd made a go of it but it hadn't worked out.

There's something kind of pitiful in both cases, to me, about these people having love interests for at least eight years before finally marrying them. Most of the married people I know didn't circle each other nearly that long.

I dated my wife for 6 months before marriage. Into our sixth year now.

Maybe I misunderstood the premise of the thread? I mean I am okay with Picard/Crusher or Riker/Troi having a romantic interest in each other. The final outcome seems to be by the by for me.

The thread is in the PIC forum because it's asking how you feel about where their relationships ended up in that series, not about how you felt about them during TNG.
