TNG Returns!

"Jean-Luc Picard..... is back." "He may not be a captain any more... [Picard] may not be the same as you remember.... 20 years has passed, which is nearly the length of time between Nemesis and today." "We have NO scripts yet, we are talking story...." but with the passion of fans and writers, "[it will be] exactly as we had before."

The big news at STLV confirmed the previous rumors, Sir Patrick Stewart is returning to Star Trek, reprising his iconic role as Jean Luc-Picard. Stewart was introduced to the crowd with rousing applause, telling them he has been working on the series for six months. He said he was initially reluctant, however he became impressed with the team. He also revealed that he has rewatched Star Trek: The Next Generation to prepare.

A few details were provided for the show. Stewart revealed that 20 years have passed since the last time we saw Picard, in Star Trek: Nemesis. And “he may not be the Jean-Luc you know.” As of now there are no scripts for the show and it is “very early on.”

Stewart also posted a statement on Twitter.

My Bet: Phase 2 like premise. Picard is an Admiral on a small fleet of ships exploring the cosmos with younger Captains handling the action.

First Impression: YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Second Impression: Well, now everyone who was complaining about wanting to know what happens after "Nemesis" in the 24th century and beyond will finally have their answer. I just hope it is one they enjoy. ;)

My Own Thoughts: I hope it fits in as much as is possible with the timeline and aesthetic as presented in Star Trek Online and the "Countdown" comic books. Neither are canon to my knowledge, but it would still be a nice gesture anyway. Also, I hope it deals with Picard as either retired, or in a position no longer Starfleet, such as an Ambassador. I'd like him to have taken Kirk's words from "Generations" to heart, as much as he could.

I hope they do the character justice.

Otherwise they could do Top Gear since the last outing with Picard established that he liked off-roading in a dune buggy.

I love Picard but I’m not sure about this new show.
