TNG on Family Guy

Brian's humming NKOTB The Right Stuff

So far it has been a letdown... TNG crew is almost a footnote to the story.

As for me, I don't really have a problem with making fun of simplistic views of religion except that it's low-hanging fruit and has been done to death. And I was hoping for more TNG stuff (though I did like the bowling bit). Also, while I like "anti-comedy," and Family Guy usually does it well, this was "it's Trek cast meets Stewie and it's an anti-comedy" - a bit too much to combine, IMHO.

Mediocre episode at best... a huge letdown.

Sadly, I agree. Their Star Wars ep was parsecs better - maybe my hopes were too high. It might be better on re-watching.

We need to punish Seth MacFarlane for teasing us with this. It had such potential and was such a let-down. You could see the whole thing pretty much in a FOX promo clip they showed last week. WTF? You know? That and Stewie NEVER asked his f'ing question!

I wonder how much of the criticism is because the episode was actually bad, and how much of it is just because it wasn't what people were hoping for/expecting.

Personally, I never _expected_ it to live up to the Star Wars episode, and I don't think the preview would have led anyone to believe that it would. I would have liked the TNG cast to rate their own episode, but I can appreciate the irony of them being brought into an episode only to act like normal schlubs.

I didn't think it was going to live up to the Star Wars tribute, but I at least thought I would laugh more than I normally have at FG in the past few months. I didn't.

I'm seriously considering giving up on FG completely. It hasn't been the same since it was brought back, and it's almost not worth the time. At least there's still 'American Dad.' Maybe 'The Cleveland Show' will be better?

I'll stick with FG at least through Something Something Something Dark Side...if they screw that up though...

American Dad does seem to be the better (or at least, less nonsensical) show of late. I loved the return of Wheels and The Leg Man. :)

I don't have high hopes for Cleveland, but that will just make it more fun if I'm wrong.
