TNG on Family Guy

I'll stick with FG at least through Something Something Something Dark Side...if they screw that up though...

Yeah, perhaps I'll do the same, although from what I understand that's not due to air til the end of next season?

American Dad does seem to be the better (or at least, less nonsensical) show of late. I loved the return of Wheels and The Leg Man. :)

That made the episode for me! I loved the hummed theme song. 'Created by Stephen J. Cannell.' :rommie:

I don't have high hopes for Cleveland, but that will just make it more fun if I'm wrong.

I don't either, but maybe we'll be wrong. :D

I wonder how much of the criticism is because the episode was actually bad, and how much of it is just because it wasn't what people were hoping for/expecting.
That's a significant part of my reason, and that's my fault. I read that this was coming up a few weeks ago, involving all of the core TNG cast, so I sort of went into spoiler-protection mode and avoided any updates. That's why I was expecting a more TNG-centric episode and expect to like it at least a little more in re-runs, when expectations aren't overly high.
I would have liked the TNG cast to rate their own episode, but I can appreciate the irony of them being brought into an episode only to act like normal schlubs.
Just so. With nine of the cast involved, I was anticipating plenty of "you remember that time when you..." moments with amusing TNG flashbacks (both as characters and as actors) and the like. As mentioned earlier, I do like FG's anti-comedy twists where anticipations are dashed and situations deliberately set up to fall flat, but it seemed odd to promote this so heavily and then throw it away just for that. Maybe there were miscommunications with Fox promotions (or misassumptions on their end).
Stewie NEVER asked his f'ing question!
I did wonder if I might have missed that (going back and forth to the computer), but I sort of figured that was the final absurdity. Thanks for the confirmation.

I wasn't very surprised by the TNG story being the subplot. Seth McFarlane said as much a few days on TVGuide and I believe one of the news briefs about the episode said the same thing on TrekToday.

I did wonder if I might have missed that

I assumed it was the 'What's it like on set?' line.

Ahh... I think you're right – thank you. Y'know, now that you've said it, I do remember seeing that but it didn't even register at the time (I guess since it's such a common thing in interviews).

It didn't to me either until now.

Which may comment on the general unfunniness of the episode... :wtf:

Bleh.

Every new episode I've seen in the last few months has sucked.

The TNG cast was barely in this one. If you want a good Trek homage, watch the Futurama TOS episode.

Anyway, I'm done with Family Guy and their lame Conway Twitty gag.

I'll stick with South Park. They've been knocking 'em out of the ballpark lately. The Coon and Margaritaville were probably two of the funniest episodes they've ever done.

Yeah, perhaps I'll do the same, although from what I understand that's not due to air til the end of next season?

It has been moved to next season's first episode. It was meant to be this season's finale until recently.

Ah, they're no doubt hoping to hook us for next season.

Unless something changes, I shall likely give up on the show after that point, then.

Glad to see it wasn't just me who found this episode rather dull. Generally I find FG to be good, but last night it really wasn't. All the TNG parts were good at least, but I was expecting more I guess.

This episode is sadly ironic. Stewie gets pissed off at the convention because no one is asking any Star Trek questions. Yet for the rest of the episode when we see the TNG cast, no Trek jokes or referances are made.

I didn't think it was going to live up to the Star Wars tribute, but I at least thought I would laugh more than I normally have at FG in the past few months. I didn't.

I'm seriously considering giving up on FG completely. It hasn't been the same since it was brought back, and it's almost not worth the time. At least there's still 'American Dad.' Maybe 'The Cleveland Show' will be better?

I do not have high hopes for Cleveland's spinoff, although I do appreciate how Family Guy somewhat imitates All in The Family and Cleveland's spinoff is similar to the Jefferson's spinning off AiTF.

It was a letdown overall, but had a few highlights. Peter's question about Shatner killing his wife was just wrong, but hilarious.

I think the Cleveland show is a big mistake. American Dad is already a better show as FG is getting played out and adding another show will just dilute things further.

Big Letdown,

If you're going through the effort of reuniting and advertising the TNG crew, atleast use them. Some of them didn't even have more then one line to say. And the scenes with the cast weren't even particulary funny (except the denise crosby bit perhaps). The meg story could have been done in every other episode of family guy or could at least have been nicely tied to the star trek plot.

Didn't they draw that pic once of the TNG crew on the enterprise bridge in family guy style? talk about misinformation (since we didn't even get to see the enterprise).

After seeing an excellent futurama episode featurig the TOS cast and a whole family guy dedicated to star wars, I expected more from this. There are youtube clips that feature more star trek.

The only good parts were stewie and the TNG cast scenes, the meg story was boring. The meg story could have been and episode by itself and the TNG/stewie storyline could have been a separate episode. And Peter did say this is a meg episode and tried to pass the remote to the viewer

I think I just spotted Samuel T. Cogley in the Q&A at the convention...:klingon:

Really?

David A. Goodman and are are pals, of sorts.

I used to sing the praises of his show "Team Knight Rider" back when "Enterprise" was still on the air, and he indicated that I was the only person willing to publically admit to enjoying that show.

one of the best bits on that episode at the end with Stewart and Burton

Meh. The Star Trek bits were funny...not hilarious but funny. Could have done without the proselytizing, though - and that took up most of the episode, and that wasn't really funny at all. Oh, well. It's only a few minutes out of my life.

I liked it because I didn't expect the focus to be on TNG the entire ep.

I enjoyed the Geordi seeing the KKK all the time using his visor gag & Alan Thick had me in tears.

Athiests= worse than Hitler.:guffaw:

Come on, how could you guys not find that funny?
