What a complete waste that was. Go to all the trouble to assemble those people to only use them for 5 minutes of screen time? I know the show has devolved to the equivalent of a random pop culture reference generator but I was still expecting better than this crap.
Nobody got assembled, it's voice over's. All you do is record your voice reading your line in the script & send it in. You don't even need to show up at the offical recording studio anymore. What a complete waste that was. Go to all the trouble to assemble those people to only use them for 5 minutes of screen time? Didn't they draw that pic once of the TNG crew on the enterprise bridge in family guy style? talk about misinformation (since we didn't even get to see the enterprise).
one of the best bits on that episode at the end with Stewart and Burton

I pity the producers of everything attached to Star Trek, it's fans are NEVER satisfied...
Agreed. This episode is sadly ironic. Stewie gets pissed off at the convention because no one is asking any Star Trek questions. Yet for the rest of the episode when we see the TNG cast, no Trek jokes or referances are made.
It is about time someone said it, even in a poorly executed cartoon. Having dealt with him, I have had doubts. It was a letdown overall, but had a few highlights. Peter's question about Shatner killing his wife was just wrong, but hilarious.
Too bad they saved the punch line until after most people changed the channel. I couldn't watch the whole thing. Thanks for the clip!one of the best bits on that episode at the end with Stewart and Burton

Crap! I turned it off before that! They NEVER do a tag on that show!
*grumble grumble.*
Well stated. It was a crappy episode... and I am a Family Guy fan.I pity the producers of everything attached to Star Trek, it's fans are NEVER satisfied...
That could lead to a fine disucssion itself, but in this case, the episode was crap. I know Family Guy fans who aren't into Trek and couldn't give a rat's ass about the TNG gang being there who still thought this episode sucked donkey balls.

IMO, that was the problem. I tuned in expecting to see an awesome episode like Where No Fan Has Gone Before and was very disappointed.I pity the producers of everything attached to Star Trek, it's fans are NEVER satisfied...

Yeah, I don't think it's fair to say that Star Trek fans are NEVER satisfied. Sure, we are a picky lot, but when quality work is done with the franchise and its actors, in most cases you can count on the majority of the fans to recognize and appreciate that.
Just to give an example close to the episode in question, how many Star Trek fans complained about the Futurama episode "Where No Fan Has Gone Before"? Not a lot I bet, and I'm sure that if it had airred for the first time recently instead of that Family Guy episode and this thread was about it, you'd be looking at a much more positive thread. That episode did everything right that this episode did wrong. Spreading the parts across the cast generously and giving them visual and dialogue gags that are funny, original, and chock full of cute and witty references to Star Trek lore and fandom.
Thanks! I'll watch it tonight and TRY to keep an open mind, but no promises...If people do want to rewatch this it will air on Adult Swim on Monday at 11:00.
Which is how they acted on set (which was Stewie's question). In one of the behind the scenes books they talk about how much they picked and tormented each other when the cameras were off (except Patrick Stewart did it every so often to Michael Dorn by making faces when the focus was on him).I still think the point is that it's not _supposed_ to be a Valentine's Day episode like the Futurama one, it's supposed to be ironic humor wherein the cast of TNG shows up and acts like normal schlubs.
