TNG episode Parallels

The Quantum thoery of universes really fired my imagination does this theory really exist?

It does, but this episode was produced at a time when the theory was in it's infancy. There're all kinds of theories about vibrating strings and multiverses these days...

I've tried to consider why Wesley was there, and as a full officer, to boot.

Perhaps he won the competition in "Coming Of Age" to gain early entrance to the academy?
Perhaps he boarded the Bradbury in "Menage a Trois" to complete his exams rather than save Riker and the two Trois from the Ferengi?
For either of these possibilities to happen, it would mean a much harder, selfish, and driven Wesley that makes decisions for himself rather than friends. Perhaps this would also help to explain why he chose to follow the security division career path.

Possiblities are endless in the multiverse. :)

that was the explanation suggested by Larry Nemecek in the UK Trek mag when someone asked how come Wes was a LT in Parallels. Although LN did say, 'we don't really know, though' after.

Probably because in that universe he didn't have to bother going to the Academy and became an actual Ensign on the ship and was promoted from there.

I still wanna smack Dr. Crusher for registering such surprise that an alternate universe had a "Dr. Ogawa".

They could've done sooo much more. Really fanwanked it to death. Tasha Yar? Dr. Pulaski (unlikely, but)? Commander Shelby? Geordi still at the helm?

Wesley's appearance was a big plus. So was Laforge dying.

Same here. I've always loved this episode. It had the same WTF? moments that Cause and Effect did the first time I saw it and the ending was superb.

i did a rewrite for a fan-fic (set in an alternate universe where it happens to a different character) and I brought back Pulaski in a universe where Bev leaves after Picard died at the hands of the Borg.

i also really went for it with a Soviet-universe (People's Starfleet serving the United Soviet Socialist Planets) and a British Empire universe (Earth is united under the British Empire and Commonwealth which expanded into space) and an Imperial Mirror universe.
