TNG/DS9/VOY Cameos in ST XI?

I would like to see Picard escorting Spock somewhere at the start of the film, they share a few words, do the Vulcan hand greeting to each other, and we see the Enterprise E fly off, as Spock watches it warp away...

How about a cameo in the 23rd C by whichever one of the Daxes McCoy was screwin' around with?

It would be cool if one of the Dax hosts was at the academy!
The problem here is that the Dax/McCoy meeting didn't take place at the Academy.

DAX: Leonard McCoy. I met him when he was a student at Ole Miss*.
SISKO: (sotto) Who met him -- Curzon?
DAX: No, my host at the time was Emony. I was on Earth judging a gymnastics competition.
(considers)
I guess he took my advice.
(off Sisko's look)
About becoming a doctor -
(sly)
I told him he had the hands of a surgeon.
SISKO: I get the picture.

* University of Mississippi (long way to go for a cameo, yes?)

Dax indeed is one of the possibilities.
Archer as well who was supposed to have been alive during the Enterprises construction and only died a day after it launched.
T'Pol can easily make an appearance (but I don't like it when the make-up department ages them to the point of looking like they are about to die off ... Archer could be made in such a capacity as he would be close to dying ... but T'Pol would only be showing signs of elderly age and still have to be vibrant in her middle age really as there was this one episode in which she stated how she could very well be alive 200 years into the future (and she was what ... 64 I think ... they were examining a stellar phenomenon) ).

So from the ENT era, both Archer and T'Pol might make an appearance ... perhaps even Phlox.
Spock would obviously make an appearance ...
From DS9, Dax as I already mentioned.
From VOY ... nobody really (Tuvok would not even be born yet at the time when 1701 was built if I'm not mistaken).
From TNG, also no one.
The only way you could see anyone from TNG/DS9 (apart from Dax symbiont)/VOY doing a cameo would have to be before Spock actually goes in time.

I like the idea that has Picard is in the movie. It could start out a decade after NEM when the Romulan Star Empire is ready to join the Federation. At the ceremony in which the RSE is being inducted, Picard and Spock meet face to face for the first time since the events depicted in "Unification," in which Picard allowed the Vulcan to meld with him. We see Deanna and Will Riker there and, for the audience's sake, she explains this away in a short line or two. (This was done quite successfully in FC in which the audience is quickly told about Picard's and the Federation's history with the Borg for those unfamiliar with the story.)

While Picard shared his experience of melding with Spock's father, Spock also opened his mind a bit allowing Picard a hint of his friendship with Kirk. Now years later, having since met the legend, fought side-by-side with him, and watched him die, Picard asks Spock about Kirk. Spock finds the two a quiet anteroom where they can talk uninterupted. Spock begins to tell the story of their first meeting but stops abruptly, looks Picard directly in the eye, and smiles subtly. Picard smiles and nods, knowingly. With that silent affirmation, Spock places his fingers on Picard's face in the katra points and begins a concentual meld. With that, the scene fades to the mid 23rd century and the story begins...

As the tale ends, we see a shift in the POV to that of Picard. We see briefly his meeting with Kirk in the nexus and ultimately on Veridian III where Kirk and Jean-Luc foil Soran's plan and stop the destruction of the planet but at the expense of Kirk's life. Picard and Spock experience the loss of their friend all over again and we see them simultaneusly shed a tear. The meld ends quietly with the two men physically and emotionally exhausted. They take only a quick moment to gain their composure and then Spock raises his hand in the traditional Vulcan salute; "Live long and prosper, Captain." Picard responds, "Peace and long life, my friend." They all but successfully contain a smile and say nothing else as nothing else needs be said. They depart the anteroom returning to the ceremony where they part knowing they will probably never see each other again...The fanfare swells and the credits roll.

There's Guinnan from TNG who could be there. All we know is that she's on Earth at least until the 19th century (Time's Arrow, TNG) and leaves for her homeworld sometime before the late 23rd (GEN). There's a lot of time in between in which she could still be on Earth during Kirk's younger days. Of course, there's also Q who could be the real reason there is a shift in the timeline that might require Spock to correct. Nimoy and DeLance have a good chemistry (Spock V. Q I & II plus Alien Voices).

I want to see plenty of TAS cameos.

I will sooooo boycott this film if there aren't any Aquan references!!!

I cast my vote for the Dax cameo as the least interesting potential cameo ever.

As long as it's a Dax standing around telling an entirely uninteresting story about a previous host (her stories were always as interesting as looking at other people's hoilday snaps) and then on his way back in time to kill JFK spock flies past and blows her head off.....

Realistically i don't think we will see any surprising cameo's. Considering the Spock/Picard connection, they could perhaps stretch to a little Picard scene- but even then, it'd be a stretch.
To be honest i hope they don't and i'm not especially worried that they will.
It would be bad for the movie and it would be bad for Star Trek.
What Star Trek XI needs is to stand alone, it will only suceed on its own strengths.

What they need is a cameo by Neelix or Wesley. They'd never be able to secure those actors, mind you. But if they could! Think of the wonder!

Dax, Neelix, and Wesley! The Big Three!!! There isn't enough money in the world to get them together for one film. But if there was, I'd be there for sure! Since it's unlikely, I'm boycotting this film!!

I'm sorry, but in order to have a film with all three of them, there would have to have a script written that is worthy of their involvement. I don't think that can be done.

True dat, Homes. Word to yer mother.

Cameos usually don't stand out, unless you're looking for them. The plot doesn't rely on anything they say or do. They're glorified extras. Actors without their make up... Ethan Philips in FC, Max Grodénchik in Insurrection (although wasn't his bit cut?). Or made up to look different. Sure why not? Although there's no indication that anyone from modern Trek has been invited back in front of the camera. Even as a goodwill gesture.

Maybe Spock could be on a Diplomatic mission to Romulas aboard the Ent E or Titan after the events of Nemesis when the movie starts. It would be cool if we get to see some familiar 24th Century Trek people seeing him off on his mission.
