Blurb:
The past comes back to haunt Captain Jean-Luc Picard in this brand new thriller set in the universe of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Section 31, the covert organization which has operated without accountability in the shadows for more than two centuries, has been exposed. Throughout the Federation, the rogue group’s agents and leaders are being taken into custody as the sheer scope of its misdeeds comes to light. Now Starfleet Command must decide the consequences for numerous officers caught up in the scandal—including Admirals William Ross, Edward Jellico, Alynna Nechayev, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard who, along with many others, are implicated in the forced removal of a Federation president.

Meanwhile, deep in the distant, unexplored region of space known as the Odyssean Pass, Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise must put aside personal feelings and political concerns as they investigate a massive mysterious spacecraft. Adrift for centuries in the void, the ship is vital to the survival of an endangered civilization which has spent generations searching for a world to sustain what remains of its people. Complicating matters is a band of marauders who have their own designs on the ancient ship, with only the Enterprise standing in their way....

THEY'RE BACK!! After a long hiatus, the (mostly) monthly Star Trek books have returned, and this is the book that's leading them off. But with the return, comes a new format... and a new price point.

I figured it was time to get a review thread up, since this book has apparently started to appear in stores. (None near me, unfortunately, but a couple stores in the Toronto area and one in Ottawa currently list it as in stock.)

Looking forward to starting this one when it appears on my phone bright and early a week from Tuesday morning (or just before I go to sleep Monday night? It's been a while since the last one, I can't remember precisely when they usually drop).

I don't know if I've missed any kind of announcement, but are these supposed to be leading into the Picard All-Access series? Or are these the final hurrah for the 24th century book continuity?

From what little we've heard, not the former, possibly the latter. IIRC, Dayton said his instructions were more or less "Write what you were going to write anyway, and just ignore that there's a new Picard show coming" when Available Light and the new series were both announced last year, and Mack posted just recently that...

Being aware of its existence is not the same as being in the loop regarding its story content. I can't speak for Dayton, but I know that even after many recent conversations with Kirsten Beyer, I know practically nothing specific about the new series.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything on this front. :techman:

Still a good 14 years off that show anyway. 10 years on and we’re just about to to get to 2387. The year Romulus is destroyed

Uhm.... I've been out of the loop for a while when it comes to TrekLit. I know that there are new novels coming, psyched about it. Just checked a Dutch website that sells TrekLit (bol.com) and it has this listed for 19,45 euro. Seriously?? That's twice as much as they used to be.... Did I miss something somewhere??

Yeah. They’re going to be trade paperbacks which have a higher price.

Got my copy the other day. $22 CAD for a paperback now :(

Still 20 euro's for me too in pre-order. I might have to skip this one. My girlfriend broke up with me after 11 years, and money's a bit tighter now. Nothing horrible, but I can't afford all the luxery's I could.

These prices seem about right for a Trade, rather than a Mass Market Paperback. My ebook edition is on order and should upload overnight at somepoint.

I’ll be downloading my copy tonight. $11.99 for the ebook here in Canada. A couple bucks more than they used to be.
