Tiny Trek Adventures (ongoing comic)

Beautiful cargo hold. I'm glad to see that you have them using the standard Starfleet cargo containers in this time period. :techman: As seen in The Wrath of Khan, fifteen years prior to the movie (in circa 2267-8), several Starfleet cargo containers were assembled together for their makeshift shelter on Ceti Alpha 5. :vulcan:

I'd like to find a place to fit Moskstraumen into the EoM map. This is where I need help from people who know planetarium software better than me.

Oh absolutely. Military equipping moves at the speed of smell most times and the Enterprise in TOS is at least 20 years old (depending on your take on canon I guess, but that's what I'm going with) and they're already designing options to revamp the fleet in 2265. They HAVE to be. Jim Kirk didn't just roll up in 2270 and tell Starfleet to change it all in 18 months. That's not how it works. That refit took 18 months because they were planning it for YEARS.

So that spurred me into including some of the TMP era looking tech into Tiny Trek. Just because we didn't see it in TOS doesn't mean it wasn't there. They were out on the far reaches of Federation space 90% of the time. Of course they're not going to have the latest and greatest tech. But shipping containers? Those change RARELY. Especially if you want them to work with all the tech out there. So that design? Probably 10-20 years old in TMP at least, so absolutely makes sense they'd have them for Khan to build shelters out of.

So a refit automated cargo hauler designed originally to haul mass amounts of grain in that hold fitted with container storage instead? Yup, TMP era looking containers it was. ;) That and I started with the cargo hold from the TMP Enterprise and stripped it back to just be a cargo hold and then made it four decks tall. ;)

I'd like to find a place to fit Moskstraumen into the EoM map. This is where I need help from people who know planetarium software better than me.

Ooooo... making it 'official'? It is definitely not a happy place to visit lol

i don't know.. the shelters on ceti-alpha look to be rather different materials and shape wise to the cargo crates seen in TMP.
Lower Decks established a TOS style cargo crate that looks closer, IMO.

but certainly there could be multiple standard types in use, and no reason why cargo bays couldn't be compatible with both styles.

On the flat side, yes they have a very different pattern, but on the opposing side they're very much ribbed just like the WoK shelter there. I would not be surprised if they didn't build the shelter out of leftover cargo containers from TMP for a full size set or if it was a miniature insert shot used a mockup of one.

The Lower Decks episode had both the TMP style containers and the others they had there floating through the debris, so yes no reason they couldn't have both. I just figured in 2265 we're much closer to 2271-2 versions of things than 2245 and if they'd outfitted the Enterprise during the refit with those container fittings, they'd have become pretty standard before that.

And to be honest having only watched the LD episode once, I'd completely forgotten about it.

^ That is exactly what they did in ST2. The torpedo bay was built from part of the Klingon ship's bridge, as was the dilithium energizer chamber in engineering.

The communicators modified to control Terrell and Chekov were from TMP as well.

ST2's budget was MUCH lower so, they scavenged everything they could from TMP.
