Twilight? But he spent 99% of that ep being totally clueless...

Having a memory disorder is not the same as "being totally clueless". The disorientation and confusion, the struggle to make sense of things that don't make sense to you, the feeling that you're not in control of your own mind, you can't do your job, you can't be useful anymore... and oh yes, the soul-crushing grief of finding out that humanity has been all but wiped out.

Great episode. Brilliant work by Bakula.

I agree about all of Season 3, the dark journey Archer went through, the agonizing choices he had to make. "Similitude," "Damage," and "Azati Prime" are standouts. The diplomat-commander Archer of Season 4 is great, too. The relationships that are more developed-- the Vulcan arc with T'Pol and Soval, the Andorian arc with Shran, "Affliction"/"Divergence" with Reed, "Terra Prime."

I just love him in "North Star." He looked absolutely perfect in western gear, and his understated manner was wonderful.

And my ko-kai star is right-- he's totally awesome in "Observer Effect."

There are good turns in the first two seasons also. "Singularity," "First Flight," "Desert Crossing," "Silent Enemy" come immediately to mind.

I still think Archer's finest moment was in Broken Bow when he pawned those Vulcan stiffs (T'Pol included) in the medical bay.

I liked the idea of him holding an almost borderline bigoted attitude towards Vulcans throughout the first season. Some attempt at showing humans, even ones with a lot of responsibility on their shoulders, still had a long way to go before being as enlightened as Gene Roddenberry always insisted we'd become.

It's a pity they made the vulcans complete dicks though.

I know, right? The entire vibe of the first season was the vulcans were that asshole babysitter that everyone hates.

In Countdown: His attempt to convince the Xindi-Aquatics to join the fight against the Insectoids/Reptiles in stopping "the weapon" from being fully deployed. Considering Jannar (the other Xindi who took Degra's place) said it took the Aquatics a long time to make decisions, Archer had managed to convince them to join his cause in a relatively small span of time.

I think he was bad-ass from beginning to end.

^^ Plus the scene after, when Archer goes to Trip and & T'Pol and tells them he promised the Xindi Aquatics that Enterprise would disable the sphere network, and they'd better get cracking to make it happen.

The looks on their faces-- Yipes! Better make it happen, or face the wrath of Archer! was priceless.
