Times you thought Archer was great.

I wanna talk about the times where he wasn't completely incompetent. This was inpired by watching fortunate son.
I thought it was awesome when they bring the first officer guy onboard and then he says
"there is another lifeform on your ship"
"One of the children has an [alienpet] if thats what you mean"
and then archer says "I think you know that's not what we mean"
And when he orders trip to remove the repairs was a fantastic scene.

I thought he was pretty good in....

Damage - the moral weight of his decisions bearing on him was well played.

The Augment Trilogy - the scene where he risks himself by letting himself be blown out into space in order to save everyone is brilliant.

The Vulcan Trilogy - We see him finally come to terms with Vulcans as a race.

The Andorian Trilogy - His willingness to fight Shran in order to preserve the peace between the Andorians and Tellarites is great.

Demons/Terra Prime - Especially his speech at the end.

I thought Archer was great on many occasions. Like that time when he punched Q right in the face!

No, wait, that was Sisko. :alienblush:

Seriously now, I thought Seasons 3 and 4 were pretty good for Archer on the whole. I really loved his attempt at badassness during the Xindi crisis.

Archer was awesome all over the place. Too many times for me count, particularly Seasons 3 & 4. But unfortunately, him getting his ass kicked is all that remains for some. I liked the idea of him holding an almost borderline bigoted attitude towards Vulcans throughout the first season. Some attempt at showing humans, even ones with a lot of responsibility on their shoulders, still had a long way to go before being as enlightened as Gene Roddenberry always insisted we'd become.

Funny you mention "Fortunate Son", his handling of the Naussicans rocked.

Without digging out my DVDs, there was one bit where something like this happens.

Archer: "You're not sneaking up on an old cargo ship anymore. This is an NX-class starship.

Take a good look. You'll be seeing more of them!"

That's a punch the air moment from a pioneering Starfleet Captain right there.

It's a pity they made the vulcans complete dicks though.

Just about everything with Degra.

"Twilight"
Twilight? But he spent 99% of that ep being totally clueless...

But for once, it wasn't his fault

I love Twilight, one of my favourite Trek episodes ever, let alone Enterprise episodes.

Season 3 and 4, excluding Hatchery.

Word.

I happen to like how gritty he was in season 3. (Yeah, I'm so with "Airlock 'we'll do what we have to, Trip' Archer") and I totally didn't mind the "Super!Archer!" of season 4.

A couple of memorable Archer moments for me:

"Similitude" -- "I need Trip!"

"Countdown"/"Zero Hour" -- for sheer captain badassery

"Observer Effect" -- because he was just awesome

"Demons"/"Terra Prime"

There were many more, but these are my stand-outs.
