History repeating itself?A few days before shooting starts and Stuart Townsend has left Thor, due to 'creative differences.' He has been replaced by Viggo Mort ..., er, Joshua Dallas.

One rumour has him being sacked for turning up 6 hours late but that's unconfirmed.

Townsend was famously replaced as Aragorn soon into shooting on Lord of the Rings by Joshua Da ..., I mean Viggo Mortensen. Is he really unlucky or totally unprofessional? e
Either way, I don't want to be on a lottery syndicate with him...

On the other hand he goes home to Charlize Theron every night, so he can't be that unlucky. ;)

As for the competition for release dates, if Spider-Man 4 comes together in time for a May 5th release then it'll win out and it'll be Thor looking for a new release date.

THOR began shooting this past Monday, January 11!!
Marvel Studios has commenced principal photography on the highly anticipated feature film THOR directed by Kenneth Branagh.

The epic adventure THOR spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

I've been wondering how all of this would come together in regards to who Thor fights. Seems Loki will be pullling the strings of whoever Thor fights. These "darkest forces" may be Frost Giants or other Asgardian creatures. Not sure if a "name" baddie exists. Anyone have some ideas on who Loki might send that would fit the bill 'darkest forces'?
Marvel has a chance to do its version of a LOTR-lite type battle sequence it seems. Be interesting to see who this movie unfolds present day and potential throw downs of this sort.

Looking forward to those first on set leaked photos of our actors in costume.

Shooting continues on Thor and it seems Santa Fe, New Mexico is a stand in locale for something.
So, Thor in the desert for something or some reason. Curious?
Parts of Marvel Studios' Thor will be filmed in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area, Gov. Bill Richardson's office said Tuesday.
According to KFDA, the studio is expected to hire more than 200 New Mexico residents for the cast and crew.
The production is currently shooting in Los Angeles.

So with a month of shooting under their belt I'd have hoped for some type of leaked(official or unofficial) photos by now.

I'm too lazy to post a link but according to the tabloids, she dumped him week or two ago. He is now officially the biggest loser in the world.

Well, he still spent years banging Charlize Theron. So he's at least got those memories, which is more than a lot of people have. :lol:

Anthony Hopkins reveals a bit about what his Odin is like.
"He's a stern man. He's a man with purpose," he said. "I play the god who banishes his son from the kingdom of Asgard because he screwed up. He's a hot-headed, temperamental young man --- probably a chip off of the old block -- but I decide he's not really ready to rule the future kingdom, so I banish him. I'm harsh and my wife complains and I say, 'That is why I'm king.' He's ruthless, take-it-or-leave-it. Women are much more forgiving; men are not so forgiving. I know in my life, my karma is, 'If you don't like it, tough, move on.' And I move on. I'm a little like Odin myself."Thor is now filming for a May 6, 2011 release.

Hopkins can currently be seen as the father of the Wolfman and that role was played with some stern, tough love as well. I imagine his Odin will be very brash and royal at the sametime.

Latino Review is citing "inside sources" and Mania.com (consolidated spoilers down the page)says take with a grain of salt. Always wise but LR has proven to credible before.

Marvel crossover reference:
According to the LR, Stellan Skarsgard's Professor Ford character makes mention of a brilliant scientist who is an expert in Gamma radiation. "Somehow S.H.I.E.L.D. made him disappear," the professor says. Obviously a reference to The Hulk and a S.H.I.E.L.D. cover up would have to place after the 2008 movie.
Thor and The Avengers:
LR reveals an end credits scene in which Thor encounters S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg who first played the character in 'Iron Man'). Thor affirms that "his kingdom of Asgard and S.H.I.E.L.D are on the same side" and pledges to be there when they need him. It has already been confirmed that Coulson makes an appearance in the movie.
The Costume and Hammer:
Directly quoting the insider: "Surprisingly, the costume looks amazing. We could tell early on from the production sketches of costumes and sets that this was going to be something good. It’s just beautiful and the designers really took it to heart. If you look at some of the more recent Thor comics that are out now, the tone and the costuming is that."

Latino Review, first link, has more coverage but nothing I saw as direct spoilers. The spoiler coded stuff is what Mania. com took from LR to consolidate it.

If you want spoilers click the button, if you want to know nothing don't click either link as LR has them scattered around the article. Although the last few pieces in the article are opinions about choices in the films cast and not direct spoilers if you just scroll down fast. Read about Branagh, Hemmsworth and how costuming is looking(without pics).

I like what I'm hearing out of those spoilers and how it ties into the other Marvel movies so far. Thoughts?

Thor meets a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent? That will be an interesting scene (if it happens).

Thor would believe, at first, that S.H.I.E.L.D. is just fighting the good fight. I think the organization might just want another big weapon.

Do you suppose we'll see a costume photo before summer?

Huh, does this mean that the Hawkeye cameo is a lie then? Too bad, they could just make him a SHIELD agent too (which means we'd likely see Mockingbird as his SHIELD agent wife as well).

well, when Jeremy Renner was on about talking with Marvel, he seemed to think they wouldn't cast Hawkeye before they had an Avengers director...

They've been shooting now for a couple of months and yet still no on set leaked photos?!
Green Lantern just started shooting two weeks ago and BAM, leaked photos of Ryan Rynolds on set.
How tight is security on Thor? Very tight it seems.
