THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till release

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

What about the Enchantress? I heard her role being bandied about for the actress who was eventually confirmed as Sif. (And, yes, she may just be a random human female so that Portman has someone to play off on.)

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Nick and Nora's infinite chest, by the looks of that pic ...

Hair colour isn't necessarily determinative, but Amora is a blonde, and Hollywood isn't exactly short on them, so I'd be surprised. I suggested Karnilla since she's got black hair.

That said, I think the suggestion that she's just a gal pal for Jane is most likely.

Some spoiler-ific stuff here but it's in inviso-text. I couldn't resist and had a peek. I wouldn't consider most of it major spoilers but there is at least one that people might want to avoid. There's also some stuff about the Avengers movie.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

While doing an interview Natalie Portman indicated that Kat Dennings has been cast in Thor as well. She did not mention what role she will be playing.
Natalie Portman revealed to MTV this weekend that Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) will have a role in director Kenneth Branagh's Thor. She didn't reveal what role Dennings will be playing, however.

My guess is she'll play a buddie role to Portmans character. It could be one good reason Portman knows she has the part. I doubt Kat has been cast in a comic part but if she has who would make sense from Thor/Asgard/Shield?

This makes me very happy.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Does anyone know, is Dr. Blake part of the Thor movie?

My vote for Thor - Daniel Craig. Put glasses on him, he's bookish and learned. Take off his shirt, he's the Thunder God. I know he's older than they're aiming with this movie... but I'd say, work the character's age around the right actor, not the actor around the supposed age.

Given his stature (even with his maxi-lift shoes), I'd suggest Ant Man would be more his niche...unless Tom Cruise gets it first.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Let me start out by saying that I HATED the Ultimates take on Thor. I don't want some "realistic" delusional crazy person, enviornmentalist with weather controlling tech. I want this movie to be Marvel's equivalent to Lord Of The Rings. I want Asgard, Valhalla, Frost Giants, the Midgard Serpent, Loki, Baldar, Odin, the whole nine yards. I want this to be big and epic and stand on its own as great movie. I want this movie to set mainly in Asgard, culminating in the battle which Thor shows his arrogance, resulting in his punishment of becomming Dr. Don Blake. The final scene of the movie should show Dr. Blake giving Tony Stark an exam (he with the bad heart) which wil suege into the Avengers movie. At least that's how I think they should do it.

That's what I'm talking 'bout...it's mythology on a grand scale!

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Stan Lee confirms his cameo via a few Tweets.
Hey, I got an email from the multu-talented director of Thor, Kenneth Branagh. Not enough space left to tell what he said-- stay tuned--
Kenneth Branagh (of course I call him "Ken!") said my cameo's set for the upcoming Thor movie. --To him, it's a cameo, to me-- it's a ROLE!
I went easy on Ken Branagh when we discussed my role in Thor. Told him I wouldn't insist on my name above the title, I think he was grateful
Yeah, I mentioned Ken Banagh a few times, but I warned you I was a name driopper. Seriously tho', with him directing, Thor's a sure winner
Of course, my previous tweet revealed the extent of my innate modesty. I really wanted to add "With me doing a cameo, Thor's a sure winner"
Can't tweet anymore. Due to Thor, I must start rehearsing my thee's and thou's. So, if thou objecteth not, I wish thee well! 'Nuff saidet."

So what type cameo would make for an interesting Thor cameo?
X-Men: A hot dog purchaser on the beach
Spiderman: Saves a little girl, advice to Spidey
Daredevil: Passerby that Matt stops from crossing against the signal
Fantastic Four: an actual character, Willie Lumpkin the mailman
Iron Man: A Hugh Hefner-esque individual on red carpet.
Hulk(s): security guard with Lou Ferrigno, juice drinker that pinpoints gamma tainted beverage where Bruce is.

Could he be a patient at the hospital assuming we get into Donald Blake?

How many cameos will be enough for Stan? Is he trying to catch up with Alfred Hitchcock?

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

^ Why does it bother you? They hardly overshadow the movies, do they? I mean, he is the man most associated with Marvel comics. It's become a bit of a trademark for the movies.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I like the goofy Stan Lee cameos.

Actually I thought that was quite clever on Mark Millar's part. He actually really was Thor, just as he claimed. The whole crazy guy with weather tech was created by Loki messing with reality. Before that he was very undecided about if he really was Thor or if he was just nuts. I liked the uncertainty. It made the character more mysterious.

But yeah the Eco-Nut aspect was stupid and insane and done solely so Millar could preach to the choir. It's little wonder that Thor was the only truly moral hero in the entire book.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

In the Ultimate universe, Spider-Man was the only one who had the right to call himself a hero.

Well since for some bizarre reason Stan is not a multi-millionaire that is one of the least things they can do for him to recognize none of it would exist without him.

So this is now about recognizing Stan Lee for his achievements, as opposed to using him as a living sight gag in the Marvel films? I could have sworn it was the latter.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Do we know who's going to play all the Stan Lees in the "Ultimate Stan Lee Cameo Universe" movie? :)

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Ultimate Thor was pretty heroic.

As to Lee's cameos (which I enjoy; there's a certain comfortable amiability to it), perhaps he could be the first man who sees Thor when he arrives on Earth.

Incidentally, I do hope that Joe Simon lives long enough to put in some kind of cameo in Captain America. It'd be really cruel for him to die only a couple of months before filming.

But what is it you dislike about it?!
