Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Will the guy who played Thor in the Incredible Hulk TV movie get a cameo?

So if NBC decided to make a half-hour Avengers comedy to run after The Office, that's who you'd want to play Thor? :)

Apparently some of the crew at AICN have been allowed on set of Thor. Comicbookmovie.com reposts what they are saying their opinion is of what they've seen.
Everyone looks absolutely perfect, right down tot he color scheme. ANd its straight up medieval future tech looking. And yes Loki has black straight hair even know Hiddleston is blonde and curly. THor is balls accurate though complete with cape, chain mail arms, the circles going down the front of the torso, and winged helmet.

I've seen the costumes, and they did absolutely [frick]ing nail it. Very Walt Simonson. And I think my reputation as someone very critical of most comic book films procedes me here so I'm not just some excited fanboy. The only thing that is funny about Loki's costume is that while its gold and has the big horns sticking out, the helmet part of it, meaning the part that actually touches his head, kind of looks like a bicycle helmet, I think more so that it would, practically speaking, stay comfortable on the actor and not move around due to the horns. The warriors three are also the same kind of medieval future tech look, a little less traditional than the comic but still very very awesome and the look of each of the actors themselves is [frick]ing dead on. Ray Stevenson looks especially cool in a chubby suit. Trust me, I think everyone here is going to be very very pleased as Branaugh just more or less adapted the comic. I was surprised at how well the looks work when translated into reality.

Apparently word is that Marvel will be pushing this hard at Comic-Con, shocker right. ;) Since we've yet to see a leaked photo during production it's looking possible we may have to wait till June/July to get some visuals out of San Diego Comic Con.

So, how much stock do you put in the crew of AICN?

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Well, from what I'm hearing, the idea that Thor is some deluded maniac who thinks he's Thor, I'm thankful that's not the way they're going. I can see most of the modern-day human characters not believing he's the real Thunder God -- I'd be skeptical, too.

As a fan of the old Thor comics, it's too bad there's no Don Blake. I always liked the idea of Odin teaching his arrogant son a lession in humility by transforming him into a frail, lame human doctor, albeit temporarily.

I must say I think having Kenneth Branagh helm the movie is a great choice, as it's clear he's taking the characters and setting, ancient Asgard, seriously. Perhaps Thor is on modern Earth because Odin exiled him there for some reason?

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

The Thor in the Ultimate universe is great, in my opinion. He was convinced he was the God of Thunder, but everyone else thought he was just an environmental nutjob with super powers. Powers that, later in the story, Loki was tricking those people into believing that he gained them through stolen tech.

Sounds a little corny written like that, but I thought it was very well done. Plus his costume wasn't anywhere near as corny as the primary colors worn by the regular Thor.

the only thing i hated with Ultimate Thor was that after he was proven to be a Norse god, fuckin' Loeb had to make him start theeing and thouing.

Holy cripes. I know my grammar isn't always that great, but this sentence even wounds me after the fact. God damn.

Dude, it's Loeb. The only person to write Ultimate Thor well was Millar.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

nah, Ellis did a pretty decent job with him in Ultimate Secret.

Well, Thor just became a little less predictable. That's actually a good thing.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

All been slow on the Thor news front lately, and sadly the latest seems to be that there will be no Nick Fury apparance in the movie:

Not a bad thing. Maybe we will get a cameo from elsewhere.
Personally I think a great cameo would be Loki, after having been defeated within the movie, shows up post credits in a scene where he is observing Bruce Banner(Norton) and mumbles something about this being the perfect tool for revenge. Just my .02

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

^ Works for me; but it seems to be received wisdom that Norton won't return and if the Hulk appears as a villain in Avengers, we won't see his puny alter-ego. Of course, received wisdom has been known to be wrong ...

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I really hope that S.H.I.E.L.D is carefully monitoring Thor and Asgard and while the immediate threat is Hulk, they understand they might have to go after Thor sooner then later.
