this is not good. In hospital.

Just had a check up with the infectious disease specialist. She said they're happy with the way things have gone, and that this infection has been dealt with, but on my last blood test the CRP levels had increased slightly, although it was still in "normal" range, but they wanted to check it again just to be certain.
She also asked if I would mind being part of a paper she was thinking of doing regarding the problems with the way patients have been treated due to Swine flu, and if I would think about being part of the student exams next year.
I am considering it, because figure they need to see actual real life cases, because they're not always text book examples... although apparently my clubbed fingers are.

So long as they don't wheel you in on a trolley and say something like "Mr Hilltop would you just hop down from the trolley?"

^Am I missing a reference there?

By the sounds of it I'll be put in a room, then, depending on how many patients they have, up to 8 students will come in and take a look. Doesn't sound too bad to me...

We do our best to make it horrendous, I assure you.
It's not like I've never had a gaggle of students brought to my bed while in hospital. Usually they're impressed by my clubbed fingers although they don't usually ask to look at my clubbed toes...

I always give permission to be manhandled by Residents or Students; more than half the time they are cute young women.

The one today was, and there have been quite a few... although it was kinda embarrassing when it was cute women inserting catheters before/after the appendectomy.

Would they pay you for your time? Or just send you off with a cheery wave and directions to the cafeteria?
I don't know, some people have told me they do, others have just said they supply lunch. Either way I think I'd do it.

From what I've seen in PACES courses, the patients are paid travel expenses and other sundry things, although they might get other perks too. Not sure about your set-up, though.

Ooh, what perks? Private room next time I'm in? edible food?
The food, sadly, is the same as the food that we course attendees get. Which is actually not that bad sometimes. :bolian:

if you are in an official study you probably will be paid.
but then when you are a patient at a clinic connected to a teaching hospital you may have to deal with a lot of baby docs.
the most i ever had was 8.
been ok but each one wanted me to go ah and listen to the lungs ect.

I think all 3 of the hospitals I regularly attend are part of a teaching hospital trust.
I think I've had about 6-8 students brought round in 1 go, with another 4 or 5 brought later.
