this is not good. In hospital.

From what I've seen in PACES courses, the patients are paid travel expenses and other sundry things, although they might get other perks too. Not sure about your set-up, though.
Ooh, what perks? Private room next time I'm in? edible food?
People helping in PACES here often get a voucher. £10 or so for Boots or the like. Not sure about the student examinations.

I think it is PACES, I just couldn't remember exactly what it was she said, so I just went with student exams.

So, I got a phone call this morning from the pulmonary clinic in Sheffield, they've had a cancellation and wanted to know if I could make it for an appointment tomorrow morning. So off to Sheffield tomorrow for a check up. Busy week for appointments.
I also got a letter from the clinic in Hull with an appointment for January, so I guess I will discuss that with them tomorrow too.

Say "hi" to the folks in Sheffield for me (again). If they remember me, that is....

Would help if I knew your name when attempting to pass on your salutations.

Well nothing to report really. Walk test was knackering as usual, had a chest x-ray and a chat about how things are going, will be seen again in 9 months, since I have an appointment with the respiratory doctor in Hull in 3 months and cardiologist in Leeds in 6...

Well, if your next appointments are months away, you must be doing very well. :bolian:

Various bits of your body being dealt with in Sheffield, Hull and Leeds. You really believe in spreading yourself around Bob.

Used to go to Harefield for my transplant centre reviews, but there was talk of it being shut down and the 450 mile round trip was a bit of an annoyance when usually it was an x-ray, ECG and a "see you in 6/9/12 months". So they just recommended that the cardiologist decide when I next needed to see them.

So Bob, do you have any plans on what your going to do when you've finally checked out of the hospital and your healthy again?

I've been out of hospital for about 2 months now. Just been keeping this thread updated with other stuff to do with my health rather than starting new threads, or dragging up even older ones.

I'm thinking it may be time for a venesection soon, started getting headaches and pins and needles again, nosebleeds can't be far behind.

Apologies for resurrecting a long dead thread, but thought I may as well as start a new one.

I've been in hospital for a couple of days again. Monday afternoon I had a big nose bleed, it lasted well over an hour and half and I lost quite a bit of blood, probably somewhere around a pint. Then it stopped and everything was fine for a couple of hours. Then around 7 it started to bleed again, and after about 40 minutes and a few hundred ml more of blood loss it was decided I should go to the hospital.

After being triaged and seeing the doctor in A&E they decided to call in ENT to take a look. After examining me the ENT doctor said I wasn't bleeding from the soft area of the nose at the front, it was further back where it would be hard to cauterise, and they would like to admit me in case there should be further bleeding, which there was, another 40 minutes or so.

It stopped and hasn't bled since but they kept me in for observation and did some blood tests and found that although my blood is still very thick some clotting factor was way off and is usually associated with having thin blood. So it was decided to call haematology, they've ordered some more blood tests, but for now I've been allowed home since there's been no more bleeding and I feel fine, but I should be contacted later today with the results and news on whether I will need more tests or outpatient appointments.
So Happy New Year, eh?
