this is not good. In hospital.

I haven't updated in a while so I'll do it now while I'm killing time waiting for Gameswipe to come on.
I've had 3 of 4 blood cultures done now, all clear so far. Plus markers on my blood tests have nose dived in the last tests, so looks like all is going good.
I have a check up with my cardiologist in the morning, I think I'll be having an ECG and an echo. I've been having chest pains when walking quite without being really breathless, so I'm wondering if it may have done some lasting damage or the lack of activity for 6 weeks made my exercise tolerance drop, so that'll be one of my questions tomorrow.

A good start to the 300th post in this thread!

Hope the appointment with the cardiologists goes well tomorrow. :techman:

Was a bit worried when I saw this thread again! Glad it's all still going well. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the doc says "You're just out of shape from being in hospital" :)

Thanks everyone. I'll probably post an update tomorrow as well after seeing the cardiologist. I'm not really expecting too much to have changed to be honest, I think I may just be seeing deterioration where it's just lack of exercise, but want to be sure.

Always better to be sure -- that's one less thing to have to worry about. Here's hoping everything checks out okay.

Well that was a quick appointment, barely got sat down in the waiting room when they called me in.
My cardiologist said that the chest pain is likely angina from the right side of my heart being enlarged, so when I overdo it there just isn't enough oxygen getting to the right heart muscle, which is basically just another symptom of my condition.
He thinks there's no lasting damage done but he would expect a 9-12 month recovery time after having endocarditis before I get back to where I was 3 months ago.
His advice was to not push it and build up slowly. He also said increasing my blood pressure medication might help minimise the angina.

I got a bit worried when this thread popped up again, and even more worried when I saw the Hallowe'en username underneath

Glad to hear things are on the right track for you. :)

Sorry to have worried everyone. Just thought it would be best to update the old thread rather than start a new one.

The Halloween name is actually a reference to a TNZ thread where someone said that in the UK people are left to die in hospitals, so I said I guess I must be dead and someone (I think cultcross) said I should have (Deceased) after my name to avoid confusion. I decided it was a good name to have for Halloween.

It's a great name for Hallowe'en! Just try not to end up actually in hospital until November, okay?

And I'm another one who saw the thread, the name, and thought the worst... not a good name choice for someone with health problems, lol.
