this is not good. In hospital.

Good luck with keeping outpatient status, but if you do start feeling badly, definitely go back in. I know it's terrible, but it will only be worse in the long run if you don't do what they say.

Yeah, I know. I called the nurse last night to make sure everything was alright, she said the doctor told me to tell me to chill, if I don't feel worse then stop worrying and he'll give me the results on monday.
My temp was normal this morning as was my BP and oxygen. So hopefully I am worrying over nothing.

Interesting choice of words there... ;)

Here's hoping it's just a blip. :) But you have the hospital if you need it.

^yeah, probably what he was going for. The room temp was incredibly high at home and I had mentioned my under arm temp was up too, so he was probably trying to be funny. :p

Last week my platelets dropped down to 60, then dropped some more to around 45, and they decided to change my antibiotic from Teicoplanin to Ceftriaxone and after 5 days they'd risen back to over 100.
I've got about 10 days of treatment left all being well. But I'll have to return once a week for blood cultures for another month after that, and then I have an outpatient check up for mid-october.

Is the back/leg pain and the coughing better now? Because they were making you miserable.

The back/leg pain is still around, but manageable most of the time. I've started coughing quite a bit again lately, but not blood, thankfully. I have had a couple of nosebleeds lately.

My antibiotic treatment finally finished on Wednesday, had the line removed and now only have weekly blood tests left.
But some good may have come of this. We discovered Hull now has a Pulmonary Hypertension specialist centre, and the consultant has said he would love to take me on as his patient. So I've been to my GP this morning to ask to be referred to this clinic, which will hopefully make things a lot easier on us instead of having to travel to Sheffield.
I also had a word with my GP about being unhappy with the fact he didn't even see me when this whole thing started, and we came to the conclusion that he feels I'm too complex of a case for him to treat in the way he would any one else, so if I feel particularly ill he will just admit me to hospital as soon as I call, and if I feel like I'm picking up a bug he will prescribe antibiotics regardless of what it is, to be on the safe side.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that, but I do feel better knowing that if I feel like I need it I should just be able to call and get antibiotics straight away.

Well, it's good that he appreciates the complexity of your situation and is willing to make special accommodations to ensure that you get good treatment.

Good to see that it looks like you're not going to visit my place anytime soon, Bob. :p But seriously, PAH is not a nice condition at all, and it's nice that you're being catered for closer to home. :)

Be grateful you have a GP who knows his limits and how to play safe under those circumstances. ;)

Yeah, it just makes things difficult when I go in with sniffles and he wants to refer me to hospital

I did say I wasn't particularly trying to put a complaint in or anything because I know he'll have been busy with the whole swine flu panic, and the complexity of things with me make it difficult but I wanted him to know I wasn't happy about it.

What would I have done? Got to the hospital and asked them to page Zion Ravescene for me?

By the sounds of it it's a recent occurrence, we only found out because they were going to get him to have a look at me while I was in but he was on holiday, so we enquired if they had a PH clinic and the nurse got in touch to tell us it was an accredited centre now and the Prof. would be happy to take over my care. Apparently they're linked to Newcastle.
