Probably over eons, his story mutated into that of the Zarquon prophet, the Sisko only returning seconds before the end of the Universe, due to 'having a ghastly time, and all kind of things cropping up at the last moment'.
I actually created a prospective 8th season for TNG, mostly comic in nature. Some sample episodes...
9 And 2 Make 31: Weyoun 9 and Sloane 2 arrive on the station. It seems that Section 31 and the Dominion cloning experts have joined forces, so both sides can now clone their best operatives. Weyoun is assigned to DS9 as liaison, while Sloane is an occasional guest star.
The Awful Waffle: Bashir and Ezri break up after a fight over a breakfast pastry. Ezri begins a relationship with Jake, much to Sisko's consternation (he returned in the premiere). Bashir and Garak begin a season-long series of "will they won't they" exchanges, kind of like on Xena.
With Friends Like This, Who Needs Emony: Emony Dax's disembodied essence is loose and traveling from person to person, periodically taking over their bodies. The result is comic mayhem... and lots of gymnastic related injuries.
