Thinking about additional DS9 productons...

DS9 is my favorite Trek beside TOS. Honestly I'm happy and satisfied with the series and with the ending giving me a feeling that the story has been told.
And I think it's good that DS9 haven't been exploited to the limit with additional movies and series like it happened to TOS or TNG.
But somehow I wonder why it didn't happen because imo DS9 benefits from the best story telling of all Star Trek what opens many possibilities.
So my question is, what additional movies or series happening before, during or after the original DS9 stuff could have happened and would be interesting?
Or do you think it just should stay untouched and left as it stands (what is principally my view)?

Considering how bad recent movies and series had been, I'm happy that DS9 got away with none of it.

However, it would have been better if they hadn't broke up the old gang in the last episode. Then we could have had a lot of books and fanfiction going about DS9.

I'm satisfied with what we got. And I'm glad they ended the show, as opposed to just stopped making it.

If there was a movie or whatever back during the original run that's fine, but I am vehemently opposed to them inserting some "lost adventure" after the fact. And I worry that they'll eventually tarnish it with some crappy "thirty years later" story. If DS9 got a sequel series at the same quality level of Picard, I'd feel pretty angry. Or sad.

Both. :)

I'm glad DS9 made an effort to tie up most of the loose ends. I lean toward being pleased no movie sequel was made. Sure it could have been great.... but it could also easily be a flop, at least from the fan point of view.

They never did say what happened to Tom Riker. The most obvious explanation would be he's dead: died in Cardassian custody, died trying to escape, died as a casualty of the Klingon-Cardassian War or the Dominion War. Kira could have gone looking for him, say in the time period after the Klingon-Cardassian War and before the Dominion War. Most likely she'd find out he died, but at least she'd know. And other adventures might await.

I can only agree.

I was terribly disappointed with Picard and I hope that I never have to see anything like that when it comes to DS9.

Worf as ambassador and dealing with Klingon fallout post-war.

Kira and Bashir rebuilding DS9 and supporting the Bajorans, and possibly refuges from Gamma Quadrant. Ezri as counselor.

O'Brien having a satellite campus for the Academy on Bajor.

These are some I thought might be fun as comic books but was really just part of a thought experiment I had where every year of Berman Trek there was a spinoff series created.
Star Trek: Empok Nor, set post-DS9 with Gul Macet, Laas, one of the other Armin Shimerman Ferengi, and some other randos.
Star Trek: Maquis, set during Season 6 with all the leftover Maquis characters (Ro, Tom Riker, Kalita), plus Pressman, Maxwell and Locarno.
Star Trek: Section 31, where Garak and Bashir take over/infiltrate the organisation.
Star Trek: Worf and B'Elanna roadtrip around the Alpha Quadrant solving crimes. Look I just want an episode where they met and hung out.
Star Trek a bunch of Alpha Quadrant people stuck in the Gamma Quadrant during the Dominion War and forced to hide.

The return of Gowron.

It's revealed that the "Gowron" that Wof killed was a Cardassian operative who had been made to look like Gowron in order sto split the Klingon-Federation alliance.

The real Gowron had been taken prisoner by the Cardassians. When Cardassia revolted against The Dominion and The Dominion started to kill cardassians and destroy Cardassian planets and cities at random, Gowron managed to escape and reurned to Qo'nos where he was re-instated as Chancellor.

Picard was atrocious. Even the third season, which seemed to make a lot of fans squeal. Some people are cheap dates, I guess. Throw them grotesque amounts of fan service and it doesn't matter how bad the actual show is.

Morn. Gotta have a Morn movie. How does he get all those females?
"All those"? He was seen walking out of Quark's with a dabo girl once... And there was Larell, and we know exactly why she was interested in him and it wasn't because he was cute. So out of seven years we're really only talking about one dabo girl.

DS9's often been the redheaded stepchild of the Trek franchise.
I'm okay with that. Redheaded stepchildren are often interesting. DS9 was home to a lot of people for a lot of people who were kind of outsiders. Sisko was sent there when it was a desk job sort of assignment, for someone whose career was stalled. Kira was an outsider because she was the Bajoran on a station administered by Starfleet. Odo was an outsider who didn't even know who his people were at the beginning - and then he found out, and it was worse than not knowing. Quark was an outsider as a Ferengi businessman on a Bajoran station. Garak was an outsider because he was a Cardassian in exile. O'Brien is an outsider as the only NCO among the regulars. Keiko is a botanist on a space station. Dukat is in various degrees of trouble with the Central Command most of the time. Ziyal is an outsider, accepted on neither Bajor nor Cardassia.

DS9 is a regular Casablanca of refugees. It gives lots of story possibilities. Compare with TNG, where all the regulars except Guinan are all Starfleet all the time. Any conflicts are exernal, which results in them being one episode only (except Q and the Borg).

You know, that’s a pretty crappy thing to say about people other than you enjoying something. I think a lot of popular TV sucks, but I don’t start ad homineming their fans for liking them.

There are no questions that need be answered, no issues left unresolved. Let's say the Dominion killed Tom Riker and leave it at that.

I might be interested in new stories with the old characters. Paramount/CBS or whoever comes next will not build the sets for the promenade. They would just use that projected wall, which will make the station look like crap, so no more DS9 stories, please. Getting more Kira Quark in LDX was nice, but I really liked Combs playing the new character , Agemus. Whatever, just new stories, not chasing old ones.

Morn was definitely a player. I was quite surprised at just how many different women he was talking to or leaving the bar with or giving flowers to.

Seriously, go back and look at his appearances. It's implied he got more action than Kirk and Riker combined, twice over.
