Things that frustrate us all

Woman called up this afternoon and was all upset because she showed up at 6:05pm last night to drop off her car for service and there was no one here to check her in, when the hours clearly posted on the door read 8am-6pm; and, she wants the store to stay open until 6:05pm so she can pay for her car and pick it up tonight. And she wouldn't give her credit card over the phone so I could run the bill and secure the vehicle for after hours pick up. By the time I get her billed out, on her way and close the store, it's close to 6:15pm.

Supposed ‘Social Media Influencers’… :barf:

(Especially when they launch into a dialogue, recording, stream, podcast… whatever you call it, in front of everyone. E-frecking-gads.)

I’d love to do the RL equivalent of this scene from Airplane to such ‘Influencers’…

Bored out of my fucking skull. I didn't bring my kindle because I thought I'd be too busy----not so much. And Mom's old TV, that barely worked before, has now died. I thought it was the remote but NOPE. That TV is dead. Tried everything. It was pretty old, and it's gigantic, so I can't pick it up and take it to the shop. Soooo...no tv, no kindle, no dog to cuddle (he died a few months back). I'm just sitting here.

I check in on Mom every day. She is in a rehab hospital--she's 93 and has had several health scares lately. The rehab hospital is supposed to get her well enough to come home. So, while the rest of my family is away for niece's wedding shower and stuff, I spend at least two hours in the car every single day to check on Mom. I usually stay about an hour or until she falls asleep, whichever comes first.

I am tired and I am bored.

Stopped to try and check on someone walking on a 70 mph road. Posted to social media to make others aware. Got accused of violating HIPAA and not minding my own business.

Fucking sucks that good Samaritan laws have to exist. Now I'm terrified of a board review for stopping to help.

As a licensed mental health counselor I'm bound by a federal (USA) law called HIPAA(Health Information Portability and Accountability Act). So, I stopped because I saw this person walking on a highway, possibly intoxicated or hallucinating. I started talking to him, but had my wife on the phone so she could contact authorities if needed. She posted to a local news social media page and people were like, "you can't listen in!" And she's like, "he's not a client. The law doesn't apply."

But, no, people think I'm a poor practitioner because I stopped to help and get a guy off a 70 MPH/112 KPH road. And that can bring scrutiny and board review from the state licensing board

That's ridiculous, there's no way you she be getting in trouble for trying to help get some out of an obviously dangerous situation. Could you argue that you weren't acting in a professional capacity, you were just a concerned person trying to help someone in a dangerous situation?

Since my last post my condition has changed, now my dizziness/loss of coordination has gotten pretty constant, to the point that I'm struggling to walk. It's weird because get the visual effect you get after you've spinning around in circles, but I feel kind of dizzy. It's just like even the slightest movement throws me completely off balance, the closest I can come to describing it is like I'm walking in a ship on rough seas, or my mom's idea after I described it to her was like walking on a waterbed. I'm also giving headaches, most have been fairly mild, but a few times they've gotten severe. I'm avoiding soy for right now, to see if maybe that's what's causing it.

Sounds like an inner ear disruption or infection.

When you start casting doubts on a professional's ethics then it can make boards a bit twitchy.

You need to see a doctor to see what is causing your vertigo. Other than an ear infection, another cause is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Caused by calcium carbonate crystals (Otoconia) in the inner ear, responsible for our sense of balance, to become dislodged and find their way in the fluid in the semicircular canals. If you are diagnosed with BPPV, there are exercises to put the crystals back in the right place. The important thing is to get a diagnosis from a medical provider.

Just got back from Mom's--turned into a 4 hour drive. And the worst part---I get home, unpack, throw all my clothes in the washer.........and the door won't shut. The latch has somehow broken--I can't even see how it could be fixed. Apparently, my husband didn't do any laundry all week and didn't notice the machine is broken. He's always slamming the door; he probably broke it and didn't even notice.

Now I have no money, no clean clothes, and no way to even wash them. I'll wait until my neighbor comes home and ask him if I can throw a load of clothes in--maybe. Or I can try to wash clothes in the bathtub.

I just want to cry.
