Things that frustrate us all

Stupid people and how stupid they are.

I sat in the E.R. yesterday for about six and-a-half hours waiting on somebody who I drove there.

While there, a skinny old white guy that looked unkempt and crazy came in. That was probably about after I had been in there four hours. He starts complaining, harassing the guy behind the desk (who was polite and working his ass off), saying he's been there two hours and he's not even being seen.

Keep in mind, while I say this, that while he was complaining there was a young lady in a wheelchair who was brought in by a friend, who had a disease (not diabetes) and they took her blood sugar and found it was not far from 600. She couldn't walk, she was having trouble talking, throwing up.
(last I heard, she was getting towards okay -- somebody was checking on her who was not staff, after she was wheeled in back away from me).

Two hours. I've been there four. The girl who could die had to wait an hour (no rooms, staff tied up).

He's bothering other people there. He keeps blurting out, "Really?!"

Finally security is called. I couldn't hear most of it, but he quieted down some, walked outside and started pissing and moaning on the phone.

He's like, "I'll leave, I'll do it!" like he's a paying customer you want repeat business from.

Aside from both of my middle fingers, this is for him:

JFC - How fuckin stupid are driver's to think that a "Road Closed To Thru Traffic" sign and barricade because of a parade and street fair doesn't apply to them and they drive around it, only to be confronted by police officers who force them to turn around?
I've seen multiple cars going around the barrier when it's blindingly obvious that there are people in the middle of the street and vendors with tents set up.
The big example of being people stupid we get here is people going hiking up our hills and smaller mountains that take hours to get through when it's 110+ out, who then get heat stroke and then call the paramedics to rescue them. What kind of person steps outside, feels that kind of heat, and thinks it's a good idea to go hiking?
The worst part is that several times when that's happened the paramedics have then also ended up in the hospital because they had to go up the same trail in 110+ heat in their full gear.
Oh and we've also had at least one or two times where people did that with their dog, and the poor dog ended up dying and the people then had to carry it's dead body down the hill/mountain.

I am having solar panels installed. There have been a few minor niggles but we're at the actual installation stage.

So company emails me to ask me if these dates are okay. I email back confirming they are and asking for confirmation of the date of removal of the scaffolding (there are some problems with access to the back of the house). No reply. I chase this up the day before the scaffolding is supposed to arrive. Get a reply saying they hadn't seen my email. So why hadn't they chased me up? Surely they needed to know whether the work could go ahead? .

Scaffolding due to go up Friday afternoon. Scaffolders arrive 7.30am when I am out of the house. Naturally they don't come back when they are supposed to do. I email the company. The company apologises and says they've told the scaffolders to contact me. No "is it okay to give your contact details to a third party?". No "could you do another time over the weekend?". I feel it's the company's responsilibility to liaise with their subcontractors and not just make assumptions about what I am prepared or able to do.

To add insult to injury, the scaffolding people have not been in touch. :brickwall:

I have emailed the company again...

One nice thing is that my neighbours, who will be impacted by the work, have been lovely about it, very understanding and very reassuring about being able to fit in with whatever happens.

(And I feel better having got that off my chest!)

Trying to figure out what 70s films to watch.

The 70s have been a mystery to me from a film perspective. I grew up in the 70s, but I didn't watch many films until the 80s. This seems to be the period right before VCRs became a thing, and late night TV wasn't playing films from that period. I'd see either current b films or much older films leaving the 70s a gap.

Kanopy has broken out its films into decades this month, so I'm going through the 70s and adding films to watch. It's also one of those decades that streamers seem to be skipping. Looking forward to deep diving into their era.

What are you into? The 70s had a wide variety of good films.

If you're a fan of musicals The Wiz, and Fiddler on the Roof are both fantastic. They're very different types of musicals, but both highly recommended.

For the last couple months I've been having tingling in my hands and feet and now I seem to be losing coordination, which I've always had some trouble with, and I lose my balance if Iean or squat or basically and not standing completely upright.
When this first started I went to both an urgent care and my regular doctor, but I was also having back pain and they only focused on that and totally ignored the tingling, which is what I was more concerned with. Neither of them really asked any questions or showed any in the tingling, which I would think would be a much more concerning sympton than just some back pain. That frustrated me so much that I don't really even want to go back.
It's just frustrating when the doctors ignore the serious issue and focus on a more minor one.

the does not work properly from outta nowhere am talking about is how the web sites and or message boards aka forums is looks messed up like how the page looks like i guess a all text only style web page

I don't know if other browsers have this, but Firefox has a "reader view", that simplifies the layout of the site. Maybe you've accidentally activated something like that?

That frustrated me so much that I don't really even want to go back.

I get that you don't want to go back, but that really sounds like something that should be looked at. :(

This didn't affect me but I'm sure a lot of other drivers were frustrated. Light turns green, lead car wants to turn left. A older lady is very very slow crossing the street so the car has to wait. And then pedestrians cross the other direction but they're all spread out so the driver still can't go. A bus coming the other direction wanting to turn right has the right of way as soon as all the pedestrians have crossed, but the light has now turned yellow. So the driver that's been waiting to turn left this whole time gives up and drives straight ahead. Meanwhile, this is a one lane street so none of the other cars ever got to go this light cycle.

MASH, FRENCH CONNECTION, CATCH-22, GODFATHERs one and two, EXORCIST, JAWS, MARATHON MAN, DEER HUNTER, APOCALYPSE NOW, STAR WARS, FRENZY, PARALLAX VIEW, BLACK SUNDAY, THE GETTING OF WISDOM, HARRY AND TONTO, TWILIGHT'S LAST GLEAMING, NETWORK, ALIEN, THE NINTH CONFIGURATION, STRAW DOGS, DIRTY HARRY, GET CARTER, SLEUTH, POSEIDON ADVENTURE, DAMIEN OMEN II, CAPRICORN ONE, 1776, OBSESSION, LOGAN'S RUN, just off the top of my head....

I suggest you go bold first as several of these may be entirely new to you.

Just digging into my IMDB watch history for the past few months:

Saturday Night Fever is one I watched a couple of weeks ago, and it was not what I was expecting (it’s not a lighthearted disco dancing competition flick).

Kramer vs Kramer wasn’t bad, Annie Hall too.

I really enjoyed The Deer Hunter but it’s not for the squeamish.

or it because the web site changed its look and it does not work properly for windows vista
