Things that frustrate us all

You only need to practice to make it better. Maybe you should register in a French forum, it would give you plenty of opportunities to improve your prose.
That might be an idea worth pursuing. I have heard that immersion is the best way to learn.

Is it really that bad?

I'm relatively lucky. It only seems to have stopped one program starting - Windvd (so far) and the dolby drivers. - It advises getting those drivers from the manufacturers website (but they've only got to 8.1 on there, even if they did work for 10 until AU). As for Windvd, I have some other programs which will work for certain parts and maybe for blu when needed.

Webcam still works though a few people have mentioned issues with that. I've got to test a few not so much used programs, but if those particular ones were broken, I'd probably have heard online before now.

On the occasions when I need to drive into town instead of taking the commuter train, finding that some idiot got into an accident on the freeway and made the commute an hour or more longer than it needs to be.

You are aware what an accident implies don't you?

When I leave for work on time but one way out of town is blocked by a electric/cable/something truck doing repairs and the other one is right past the elementary school where every bus and mom in the WORLD is dropping off their kid.

And then I finally get to work just as the coal train starts passing the entrance gate (yes, where I work there are train tracks between the main parking lot for employees and the rest of the campus. Why? because they hate us.)

Ooh, new email:

The university is investing our "New" President on Oct 14th (She's been our "acting" President for years now, and has somehow managed to weather a storm of criticism from faculty, students, staff - pretty much everyone connected with this place - and running up a multimillion-dollar outstanding debt.)

All staff members are "encouraged" to attend. (In U-speak, this generally means "you'd better show - we'll take any excuse to fire $28K employees while collecting our $250K salaries and remodeling our million-dollar residences with $6K bathtubs.")

Well, the 14th is my 45th birthday. Just you TRY and find me.

Faculty is set to go on strike on the 19th. What a way to begin a Presidency!

All our files are electronic. When a hard-copy document is generated, it always ends up being scanned in and filed in a student's personal folder by one of our Grad Assistants.

Today I learned that a GA we had back in Fall 2015 DELETED a bunch of student record files that had been emailed to him for filing, instead of filing them.

Guess who's already spent two hours coming through the GA email's deleted items folder in an attempt to recover the files?

People who refuse to vote and like to complain about how things are run
At least in the 2016 US Presidential election, some people may have a legitimate excuse. Personally, I can't stand ANY of the candidates, and that is what frustrates me!

There is never an excuse not to vote. Not one.

Even in an election like this.

I mean, if you don't like Trump OR Hillary, nobody's forcing you to vote for them, but just pick somebody. Gary Johnson, maybe? Sure, he may not have a chance in hell of winning, but you never know...

I actually would have no problem whatsoever with a system that makes voting mandatory. It's the duty of each and every citizen to contribute to the democratic process. If everyone could be legally compelled to vote, I'd cheer it.

Everybody should vote for a third party person just to be rid of Trump and Hillary. It won't happen of course, but I can dream.

We'd need much better third party candidates. Not a guy who turns into a deer-in-headlights anytime anyone asks him a foreign policy question and a woman who thinks wi-fi rots your brain.

I did say I can't stand ANY of the candidates. That includes Johnson.

Problem is, they did that during the election that got Dubya in. And that's in part how he got in. Third Party candidate votes took away and then the candidate that a lot of people didn't want to get in, got in.

That's one problem with voting third party. It would be nice if it worked, but sadly a lot of times it doesn't work.

You don't even have to vote or someone, just spoil your ballot by voting for more than one candidate.
