Things that frustrate us all

I've lost count how many times I've got embarrassingly affectionate whilst drunk, lol

Everyone is my best friend!
Better that than people who get very feisty when they're drunk, sometimes they wake up with a black eye and a broken nose that they don't remember getting.
Thanks for reminding me why I'm glad I never drink alcohol. To me, it's all panther piss. :ack:

The American obsession with having a front lawn. "Hey, let's bulldoze everything--all the plants and trees--and build homes here and put down grass that sucks up way more fertilizer and water--because it's so important to have a perfect green carpet out in front of your house that you will never use."
I think the front lawn is symbolic for wanting people at arms length. The street is the person and the house 20 ft away is you. A super large green carpet bubble of protection. LOL

Same thing when you talk to an American, you have to keep a distance between you and them that is way longer than in most other developed countries. Otherwise, they get hostile and they can even walk away with no other reason than that you've violated their safe space.

You're joking, but I think you're bang on the nail there.

I've observed it watching housing shows. People don't need so much 'privacy ' in their back yards yet insist upon it. No one cares anymore. No one is watching you have that once a year you might sit in the back cooking on a grill. They are gaming, facetiming, youtubing. So relax. Save some space, I say.

I hadn't thought of that but i have observed it. I have experienced what it is like to have someone in my space. And it occurs to me, this greeting by cheek kissing I experienced in during my visit in Switzerland , I found intriguing for what it can do. As an American we don't do that. Not that I have seen or experienced except by family and that is rare in my view.
By allowing someone close you are making more than one connection. Good for the spirit, imo. We should try it.

I'd like a big front lawn. I like our new house but I'd prefer the front door to be a little further from the street. This is the UK though so houses, especially new builds, are jammed into rather small spaces.

A lawn is just something I have to cut and maintain. I'd prefer it if my house occupied every square inch of my property. No lawn to mow, plus my house would be YUUUUUUGE instead of tiny. I had enough of open green spaces when I was a Scout, thankyouverymuch, that's part of the reason I want to live on a nice, sterile spaceship.

Oh I'm so sorry, it's a program I use at work for analytics, and today it was like just not cooperating. Every error kept popping up, there was something wrong with my server, but it's all fixed now, but I was banging my head on my desk.

Now, maybe you don't want to be doing that....ruins the finish...

:p

Oops! I didn't realize they used the same name, lol. Like almost everyone I know at work uses SAS, isn't it so funny how unusual terms or phrases we're used to we start to think are common vernacular?

I just want to speak to someone and usually you find the option you want is the last one they say and you still have to go through another 2 or 3 sub options.
