Things in Season One we never heard or saw again...

Geordi's VISOR transmitting images of the away mission ("Heart Of Glory").

An aside - it's the 24th century, surely all away team members should/could have a "head-cam" of sorts?

Usually when they needed "sensor logs", read: stock footage, they found it - I suspect that was just to answer the fan question of what Geordi 'saw'.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this ... Lack of headaches.

Beverly is incredibly surprised Picard has a headache early in season one, saying that things like that had been cured. That whole idea fell by the wayside pretty darn quick, didn't it?

Talking about headaches...didn't they mention that LaForge always ahd a headache as a result of his VISOR?
That always made me sorry for the guy.

We never really saw Data not understand simple words after S1.

That little dialogue trick on sci-fi always made me laugh. Here's an alien/android who can discuss quantum mechanics in English with ease, but doesn't understand some basic everyday word like 'market' or 'barber'.

"...or a simple word like snoop." You'd have thought he could have read the OED at some point in his lifetime.

"I know the sum total of all human knowledge yet I can't understand the simple emotion called love." *robot explodes*

well, one of Geordi's shipmates from the Victory is seen wearing a head-cam in "Identity Crisis".

This was touched on somewhat, but Geordi constantly changing departments on the ship. It also goes with the 5 or so 'Chief Engineers' that appear that season besides himself. I think by the first episode of season 2 it was finally settled that Geordi was the Chief Engineer...

Can anyone else think of odd things we saw in season one that were dropped afterwards?

how about the TOS-era bosun's whistle, from picard's shipwide address in "where no one has gone before" -??? i always thought that was a nice touch, was kinda sorry they never used it again.
They used it occasionally. If I remember correctly, he used it at the end of "Lower Decks" for example.

There was a line somewhere early on about Picard wanting his junior officers to get experience in all departments, which is why Worf and Geordi seem to do just about everything in the first season.
