Things and Ideas

Does anyone remember a Star Trek where the characters were almost incidental and the story was plot driven. Those were the days. I liked it when the POV was objective or just Kirk's alone. We saw a little bit of that in TMP.
The Enterprise is an archetype of GR's vision and it shouldn't be changed. Captain Kirk is a literary character - an idea and can be changed. Keeping the 'universe' intact is what held Star Trek together. The details of Gene's 'universe' are no less a part of that. Else Abrams should go create his own universe if he's so smart.

yeah, I fell in love with TOS because of its lack of interesting characters and their interplay.

Oy.

Yeah, if he thinks he's so smart, he should create an entirely new language. And some sentient beings that we've never seen before as protagonists and antagonists. And entirely new laws of physics. And the movie should take place in a dimension that we could never imagine or even begin to understand. And he should only utilize light from the part of the spectrum that the human eye cannot perceive...

If he thinks he's so smart.

You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas... this poster's from: The Twilight Zone.

Yeah, Abrams just thinks he's so smart. You know, if Gene were here, he'd tell Abrams how he came up with Star Trek all by himself, with no other inspirations like Gunsmoke or Forbidden Planet.

Yeah, and star wars is in absolutely no way based in Hidden Fortress either.
