Theory on the Monks

No. Not at all. I'm just confused why you needed to tell us all that Christopher's theory was just a theory. Like we didn't know that already.

So this, following the thread on Discovery about POSSIBLR SPOILERS REDACTED. Is my second thread in a row that got completely derailed. Ho-hum.

 

Ooh. It just struck me that in the very earliest ideas for a certain vintage story the invaders were 'Star Monks'.

 

What was the story?

I've been watching Doctor Who since the days of hiding behind the couch and wishing my brother hadn't talked me into it. I was more scared of the Cyberman than the Daleks but that changed later.

The early ones were black and white and grainy. I kind of don't want to go there. About Tom Baker and K9 days .. that's more like it. The current ones border on being okay.. I was just getting used to this new Doctor.

 

It's almost as if technology has advanced in the 54 years since Who started.

 

Ahhhhh.

 

I hope that the Mondasian theory works out to be true, I love this idea!

 

Yeah, I like it better than my theory. I chalked up the weird disconnect between mouth and sounds to a bad internet connection. We watch on Sling and it skips sometimes.

 

Count me as one who thinks it's a neat theory and hope it turns out to be true!

 

It's a shame it didn't hold any fruit. Was a great fan theory though.

 

Yeah, too bad indeed...what we got was bland in comparison...and on its own.

Agreed. That theory would've been more interesting than what we got.

 

I think they officially count now as the most useless villains in the history of the series.

 

Wasn't there a group of aliens that could shoot lightning from their fingers and mess with people's memories? I just can't remember...

 

Wonder if there's anything to it that there were 12 of them? Like 12 "ghosts" of a Time Lord.
