Theories about the Crack - *SPOILERS* up to 5x03

So, something I've noticed is that they are making it very obvious that we see each crack in each episode so far. A lot of people are saying it is too obvious, but I think this is intentional.

We have only ever seen the crack where the Doctor has been. My theory is that the cracks ONLY appear where the Doctor has been in his travels, either in his past, or now as the 11th Doctor, not sure which, only that the cracks only appear where the Doctor has been.

Some suggest that perhaps it is an AU kinda thing, and the Doctor has slipped through the crack to an AU. I hope this isn't the case, and I don't believe it is.

In tonight's episode, we learn that Amy does not remember the Daleks. Perhaps maybe this means that memories are being erased, or time is being erased! Think about it, what if wherever the Doctor has been, somehow time is being re-written or reset so that no one ever remembers he was there.

Could this be interference from the Timelords themselves maybe? Erasing the Doctors past? Or some other thing erasing the Doctors past?

It makes for an interesting theory anyway.

What kind of theories do you have about the crack and about the loss of memory?

I think it's pretty obvious that the Doctor is in some way responsible for the cracks, given the way Prisoner Zero was taunting him in the premiere. The question is, is it do to with something he has done or something he will do? We never have found out if there will be any consequences for the Timelord Victorious interfering in a fixed point in history in "The Waters of Mars," after all...

I'm pretty confident, given Moffat's love for Timey-Wimey stuff, that this all has to do with something The Doctor does at the end of this season. Probably the dream-moment we see in Eleventh Hour. He crosses his own timestream for some reason, and goes back to Amelia when she was a child. This contradicts his personal history, and it cracks the skin of the universe. Not so much a paradox as a incongruity in time.

Just a guess. But, I think he will keep the whole subplot, and cause, self-contained within the season...

You are all wrong.

The big baddie at the end of the series is a PLUMBER.

Like all plumbers, his crack is showing.

According to Smith, we've seen the big bad already

From the newsrama article about the regenerations

Something you don’t have to wait for is discovering who the Eleventh Doctor’s Big Bad will be. Smith told the crowd it’s seen in the very first episode. “Albeit, not in the most conventional form. You’re going to have to think about it and find out what it is, but it’s in there,” he said. “And that’s the one, that’s what takes us through the whole series and my god, it’s bad.”

The TARDIS?
Rory?
Geoff?
MΨTH?
Patrick Moore?

I think it will somehow involve an AU and the Doctor slipping through it. This allows the Timelords to return as well as an alternate Doctor.

Seen "...not in the most conventional form."

Hmm, could that have been in the Eyeball images at the end of the episode? The Silurians? The Doctor Vainglorious?

I think it's pretty obvious that the Doctor is in some way responsible for the cracks.
Or Amy. After all the first crack appears before the doctor arrives at Amys house, not after he leaves as with Starship UK and the War Rooms. He did after all say her name was like a fairy tale, is this the doctors fairy tale lived inside his head? Or his fairy tale projected ouside his head? Or Amys imagination and shes still a eight year old girl? She has after all found the solution to the problem before The Doctor twice now. Martha was never this smart therefore...

...there must be something wrong with Amy! (I suspect the fact neither her parents nor her aunt have been seen or named has something to do with this as well.)

Now that could be interesting, if done correctly.

Either due to age of 10's regenerations (remember he started and stopped one, then had the mega freakout regen) the TARDIS starting to lose its mind or is slowly dying.

im not sure this is the Doctor (or the TARDIS) fault, given that Amy had a crack in her wall, before she knew the Doctor.

It is possible that the "big bad" was shown in the Atraxi holograms, it was a who's who of past villains.

Its obvious reailty and time have been cracked open, and that's been cause by one thing.

That could mean the Doctor did return after 5 minutes.:wtf:
No, the following morning. The sun's come up when Amelia hears the TARDIS engines, looks up, and smiles. The Doctor's five minutes turns into several hours, but still closer than the twelve years.

I admit, I am warming to the idea that it's not just a dream.

But, why doesn't she remember it? Same reason she doesn't remember the Daleks?

Theory: She wasn't there. She was with FutureDoc. Maybe even Merlin (;) heh), and for reasons unknown her memory was erased after returning to Earth?
