Theories about the Crack - *SPOILERS* up to 5x03

^^^ That would be a huge stretch for me. Plus, the Doctor called her, "Amy, AMELIA" in Victory of the Daleks and she did nothing to contradict him.

But, why doesn't she remember it? Same reason she doesn't remember the Daleks?
Maybe Amy and Amelia are two different people.
No, they're the same person.

I'm beginning to think, however, that Amy isn't entirely real. I think she's actually 8 year-old Amelia's dream of herself. That could be why Prisoner Zero recreated Amelia and not Amy, because the twelve years later part of "The Eleventh Hour" isn't, actually, twelve years later and Amelia is still eight.

Deep down Amy is still that little girl(Amelia) waiting for the Doctor.

The Doctor not coming back just made her build a wall of cynicism

"I grew up"

Doctor- Don't worry, i'll soon fix that.

I think the crack is something to do with Amy.... maybe she is an escaped prisoner like zero... but she just doesn't know it after a brain wipe?

Or the Rani? :D

I like this theroy. Hope its the case.

Prisoner Zero keeps talking about a "silence".

Could that be a reference to Silence In The Library and the return of a certain character?

I know, probably a stretch and/or too literal.

"The Pandoracle will open and silence will fall"

Make of that what you will. Tantalizing stuff, ain't it..

The doctor seems to suspect something is up. And why did he hide the crack seen on the monitor in The Eleventh Hour from Amy and act overly nonchalant at that point?

I had wondered if Amy might really be Prisoner Zero, but now I don't think so. There is something odd about her though, definitely.

I have a hard time believing that Amelia would imagine herself growing up as a kissogram. :p

OH!! I'm so glad someone else saw that too. Did he notice it himself or just turn off the monitor for some other reason?

We'll see.

best wishes,

Well, "Pan" means "Cross" as in across the whole of something, and I quite like the Wiktionary definition of Dor meaning "Gate", so maybe it's a gate across the whole of reality or something like that?

Alternatively, the "Dorians" from which the word "Doric" comes are an ancient Greek tribe, who lived on Crete. Make of this what you will.

I think it's more likely a play on 'Pandora's Box' (ancient Greeks again), which according to legend was a container full of all the evils of the world.. and hope.

I'm fairly sure he glanced at it and quickly turned the monitor off so as to hide it from Amy.

And he really played up that it was a whim. The Doctor can be a lousy liar, though whether that's because of him or because he's a TV character is an open question. They may as well have subtitled "HE'S TAKING HER WITH HIM BECAUSE OF THE CRACK" when he said in response to her saying he was taking her along because he was lonely, "That's all. Promise."

No one ever says "Promise" on TV when they aren't covering up something.

I think it's pretty obvious that the Doctor is in some way responsible for the cracks.
Or Amy. After all the first crack appears before the doctor arrives at Amys house, not after he leaves as with Starship UK and the War Rooms. He did after all say her name was like a fairy tale, is this the doctors fairy tale lived inside his head? Or his fairy tale projected ouside his head? Or Amys imagination and shes still a eight year old girl? She has after all found the solution to the problem before The Doctor twice now. Martha was never this smart therefore...

...there must be something wrong with Amy! (I suspect the fact neither her parents nor her aunt have been seen or named has something to do with this as well.)

I think your on the right track here, it is weird that Amy has been come up with solutions in the past 2 episodes.

Maybe Amy is the valeyard.. Ok just kidding :)

Didn't the timelords have a plan in "the End of time" that was some kind of final solution that would split open Time itself?
