The Worst Fan Film Award Goes To...

just watched the dark hope film, what exactly is so good about it? please fill me in. the trailer was ok, thats only because they must have actually hired a real trailer guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfZD3styRj4
.

This is a guess on your part. To even suggest someone else created the trailer, of a film the maker spent a lot of time on is a bit absurd. Why would he get someone else in?

I don't doubt that the trailer was made by the same person, and therefore the fact you gave credit to the trailer shows that you see merit in the creator's skills.

I have watched most of Encarta 4 and its far better than most fan films. I can't comment on the overall story, but certainly FX it was very watchable.

If you want people to respect your opinion you need to back it up with solid arguments and no sweeping general statements about how something sucks.

Certainly guessing things about parts of a film might have been made shows you are a lazy reviewer. This is total childish nonsense. I don't think anyone agrees with your points on this film so far. Thanks for pointing it out though I enjoyed watching the first half of the film.

And please- do show us all what you're capable of, I'd love to see the the multi million dollar film you have knocked up in your garage.

You suggest only to watch Phase II. Compared to phase II the first 2 seasons of TNG were not as good quality- it wouldn't stop me watching them. If you have such a problem with low budget fan films-made from the heart about something all involved with clearly love then don't watch them. You bitched enough about the trailer so why watch the film? It's not as if even after watching it you came up with any interesting points.

PicardAlpha I hope you don't let one troll put you off making something you enjoy. You can't please everyone. Especially childish noobs who can shout out because they have a pc to hide behind.

SNIP
I also watched another one called star crap intrepid. that guys movie is actually worse then yours, so the worst fan film award moves to star crap intrepid. but still encarta blows chunks compared to phase II, but i guess its light years ahead of intrepid.

and anyway, this is probably the worst fan film of all time.

Don't watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK2tWVj6lXw

That is blocked from viewing in the USA. I'm sticking with Star Trek: Star Fleet Marines. The Best Star Trek Fan Film Ever Made is also a contender.

Both are here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/144.html

I object to the suggestion that this is a 'review.' There is a difference between a review and an set of four letter words.

I applaud your suggestion that he show us his fan film, though. bravo that!

By the way... save McCoy... please?

could someone please tell me what the big dark twist really is, whats so darker about this then say the crappiest show of all, voyager.

What's the point? So when does your fan film come out?

Lets not forget that many people slag off professionally made Star Trek episodes and films which, for all their flaws, range from pretty reasonable to excellent. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that fan productions, which are made in people's spare time, will often be subject to greater criticism.

True, however people should also have manners when commenting.
Just because something doesn't float their boat doesn't mean they have to be so rude.
And in defence of fan productions- they aren't paid to make these shows. TV companies profit from making shows. Its a product. And like any product if they don't live up to a standard you would complain.

The guy is narrow minded! He is saying only to watch phase II and official paramount/cbs series. It's not nice to say a film is the worst of all fan films! And its also not true, but apparently not having watched many other fan films (except PhaseII) to compare it to its a very biased opinion to have. Its therefore unfair to compare it any others and say it's the worst.

If you went to see an amateur dramatic performance and thought it was terrible you wouldn't stand in the lobby after and start shouting to everyone who will listen how rubbish it was.

The internet is a tool to do exactly this- but it doesn't make it right!!! The user was rude to others like Randy too. Theres no need to act like a fool- it certainly doesn't reinforce any arguments or opinions.

Doesn't bother me! Encarta has never had 4 pages of "discussion" ever! I work in the media industry, sometimes bad talk is just as good as the good, if not better. Seems like ratings are up! ;)

Quite so, I'll be downloading you latest episode tonight.

Wish I could find more people interested in a DS9 fan project in Northern VA/MD. Farragut is doing well, but they are TOS era.

A suggestion for finding people interested in making a fan film in your area:
1) Formulate the idea a little more clearly. Then post looking for help and support on most of the Fan Film forums. Most people interested in making fan films watch them, too.

2) Even though Farragut isn't your era, you might want to help them behind the scenes so you can tell people you've worked on a successful fan film. It will also make clear the size of the task.

3) Work out a plan of action. Sadly, a check of my Fan Film Production Map does not find any DS9 era Fan Films being produced within, say, 500 miles of your location. TOTSF, which has not put anything out in years, is theoretically open to any era. It is a collection of all the ST Fan clubs in NJ. However, you still might want to take a peak at my Fan Film Production map and just see what is nearby.

If anything, working behind-the-scenes with another production allows you to meet the people working there, exposes you to production, and gives you the chance to network with like-minded individuals who may later be interested in helping you with your project. I'd definitely second the advice of volunteering on another production if you are able to.

As someone involved with TOTSF I know we are more then willing to help out. We are planning to have another episode out sometime this summer or fall called, "Street Fight." Then from their, its up in the air weather we will produce anymore Justice fan series.

I'm looking forward to "Street Fight." The teaser on Vimeo http://vimeo.com/channels/ussjustice looks intriguing!

Thanks for posting the teaser. The episode will expand on our on-going mystery and introduce some new characters. Many of the original people involved with TOTSF have moved away from the area.

I'm looking to get my own Fan Series started, been working on a script and bible and hope to shoot it next year.

see, ya'll misunderstand. sorry for the confusion.

i simply think phase II is light-years ahead of this stuff. im just very vulgar. just saying i dont think encarta has what its takes against the phase II and i dont think intrepid has what it takes to place against encarta, see, and certainly not phase II. the acting in intrepid is just dreadful, while some of encartas talent was very bad atleast a few of them could read lines and jump around the crappy battle scenes, intrepid...well...they need some serious acting lessons. i am of course a true thespian actress and can figure these things out, you see.

We are waiting for you to post your fan film, deepspacearea51. Since you now claim to be an actress, you are under more intense obligation to do so. We are all waiting on you. We already figured out you were vulgar. Not news. You claim you can act, show us.

This entire thread is premature. I have yet to release my fan film!

And I think you're assessment of other actors is vulgar and off base.
