The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Ryan Cogler wanted to get away from franchises for a bit and just make a movie that stands on its own called Sinners. But now that it's a box office hit and critical success..... franchise time!

We could use some new franchises. Are current ones are getting older and more creeky. Like us the fans. :)

Not a reboot reboot but rather a living life reboot. Clint Eastwood wants to make another movie. Probably doesn't want Warner anywhere near it.

The plot points involving the SWAT spinoff make no sense. Isn't SWAT an elite unit?

"In this spin-off of the hit series, after a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson (played by Shemar Moore) is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits. Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is."

So now this is Saturday detention SWAT. Why are untested, unpredictable recruits the answer to a high-profile mission gone bad?

Ever heard of the movie Iron Eagle IV? It's about trying to take juvenile delinquents and turning their lives around.... by giving them full control of planes to fly solo.
