The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

The original was overrated. If the redo is worse (almost certainly) it's bound to outgross the original.
I doubt it will outgross the original film; Home Sweet Home Alone is going straight to Disney+, do not pass 'GO,' do not collect $200. (I'm not even sure how you compare apples (ticket sales) to oranges (streaming views) in that regard.)

Calling the original Home Alone 'a cult film' is like calling Walmart a boutique.

I don't know. I don't think it had tons of critical acclaim when it came out and even though I think it made good money at the time I don't think many people expected it to become a Christmas tradition movie.

Exactly. I don't think anybody quite expected it to become such a tradition, and as a Christmas movie, it's fairly well-liked. Come to think of it, there are a lot of Christmas movies that have ended up being traditions that are more or less mediocre in quality, but have cult followings. It's like Clue, which apparently did terribly at the box office but later became a cult following. These movies end up being comforts.

I think I had a vague idea that was a thing but I didn't know they already had a season. I thought they might have still been working on it or it got dropped and never made.

It's a show and not an altogether terrible one either. I mean it's just Lauren Graham doing Lauren Graham things but with hockey, but that's not a bad thing, really.

Sucks for him. He'll only lose out on more opportunities. Thumbing your nose at a job when jobs are currently hard to come by due to a pandemic is probably not the smartest thing to do.

He can always star in a tv show with Ice Cube, Gina Carano and Letitia Wright. A reboot of Bosom Buddies as 2 guys have to dress up and pretend to be women in a female only apartment complex and the only one not following a Vax mandate. First tv show to come from The Daily Wire which is trying to get into movies and shows.
