The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Paramount+ is doing tv series based on these movies:

Fatal Attraction, Flashdance, Love Story, The Parallax View and The Italian Job

My money is on all of them sucking. If they want to take something from the 80's that is dated like Flashdance, Love Story and Fatal Attraction at least take something dated but can still be used to make something fun like Revenge of the Nerds or Police Academy.

One of the King of the Hill writers claimed that the series is about to be revived during a Reddit AMA.
I am sure Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but... HELL YES. They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill. The Trump administration made it suddenly very relevant again. The characters have all aged 15 years. The project is sooooo good. Okay I've said too much :)

A revival with the original cast that continues from where the series originally ended is OK. It's these "we have run out of any good ideas so we'll just take some old show and remake it" shows that we do not need. The remakes of Magnum P.I. and MacGyver as two examples of shows that should go away.

There was talk about a Law & Order limited revival where they would bring back actors like Noth and Waterston so that they could get that 21st year and break the Gunsmoke record, which SVU has since broke.

They could still bring it back with six new cheaper actors and it'd be a hit.

True Blood, no need for a reboot ,if bringing it back make it a continuation but even that isn't needed.

I really like both of those, especially Magnum PI.

I would love to know what the exact wording of the agreement is, because a remake is not the same as a spin-off, but it is still a related show and part of the franchise.
