Love all the comments about Hollywood being creatively bankrupt, like there haven't been remakes for the last 100 years.
And before there were films, writers were “re-making” books. Shakespeare wasn’t even the first to tell some of his stories.
Humans have been retelling stories since humans started telling them. It’s not like it’s a new thing.
Wow, Deadline butchered the shit out of that story. Here's Entertainment Weekly's story (which was Deadline's source), which makes a lot more sense. It doesn't look like Michael Landon Jr. is involved with this new version at all. (OTOH, the prospect of Alison Arngrim playing Mrs. Oleson would be amazing. ) https://ew.com/tv/little-house-on-the-prairie-reboot-paramount-exclusive/ The paragraph that's so confusing is actually a poorly written account of how the original series came to be — Ed Friendly acquired the rights to the books, commissioned Blanche Hanalis to write a teleplay, and got Landon (Sr.) to direct the pilot movie that aired back in 1974. I can't find anything to back up their assertion that Landon only took the directing gig on the condition that he play Charles, but when the show went to series, he was star and executive producer, and wrote and directed a ton of episodes.
Ahh well that makes a lot more sense. Deadline really messed that up, combining new and old in one paragraph, so no wonder I was so confused. I have to wonder if this is happening due to the success of the Anne of Green Gables reboot.
An unnecessary Kung-Fu reboot is being planned. It's good they're casting an actual Asian in the lead, but of course they gender-flip the role and set it in present day: https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/kung-fu-reboot-cw-olivia-liang-1203516518/ I assume it will be devoid of late 60s/early 70s zen philosophizing, and loaded with teen angst.
Could just set firefly 20 years in the future ( been about that in real) and have some rando "Find" the firefly in a junkyard and get a crew together, and include whatever old cast that is willing to show up. With the thing of after the Miranda fiasco, the interplanetary government has colapsed and its all independent planets.
God is trying to keep them apart. He is both the Capulets and Montagues. Jesus shows up on his dinosaur to help Adam fake his death with a potion created out of bile from the Snake in the garden and then Eve kills herself when she finds him dead at which point Jesus realizes this is no way to start a civilization and he is going to have a word with his dad about this evolution idea he has been thinking about. I hear they are going to reboot True Blood. already. Way to soon I would think but I guess that is what you can say a lot these days. Jason
I don’t think there’s very much to this, it sounds like an actor (and director) musing about the possibility of playing a certain role, rather than something that’s being actively planned, but Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin? Not sure I see it myself. https://www.joblo.com/movie-news/th...O8MAP5LYiBQakJsF9OWIADWp_LYiZWaZpmtBzrru0Grsg
Yeah, I don't see it, and Ed Helms would be an even worse choice, so I'm glad that version never got off the ground.
