The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

  • Thread starter Rowdy Roddy McDowall
  • Start date
They'll need to find new baddies. Joe Pesci (Harry) retired a while ago (1999), occasionally coming out of retirement to do cameos and The Irishman for Scorsese. Daniel Stern (Marv) has run into ... troubles ... lately. Both the parents played by John Heard (Peter) and Catherine O'Hara (Kate) have passed.

Meanwhile, fans can look forward to the sequel to one of the best screen adaptations of the Warhammer 40,000 universe to screen, the animated episode that featured in the Secret Level anthology. Rountree stated in the report that "we have almost completed an episode for Secret Level Season 2," but this time it will be set in the Age of Sigmar universe, 40,000's less famous fantasy cousin. But fans of boltguns and chainswords should not despair: "We have begun work on a full animated Warhammer 40,000 series featuring our Space Marines - Deathwatch," Rountree stated. "This series will be written by John Orloff, with Blur again animating, and released through Amazon."

Jumaji: Open World will be the last one.... until someone wants to make a new one with a new cast.

And since these have been hits for Dwayne Johnson, I'm sure he's already looking into Flubber 2, 3, 4, then Bicentennial Man 2, 3, 4, then Cadillac Man 2, 3, 4.

And Hook 2? ;)

According to Box Office Türkiye, the film will be released in Turkey on March 5th by Sony. However, the trailer has not yet been released on Sony's international social media accounts, except for those in the UK and Ireland.

Sony hasn't released this movie on any of its international social media accounts. Amazon was planning to open its own international distribution department by the end of the year. This could be the first film, or, like He-Man, they might release an international trailer a few weeks later.
The movie "I Play Rocky" will be released in Türkiye through an importer.

Sony has released the trailer on social media, at least on Instagram, in the following countries: Germany, Taiwan, Switzerland, Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal, Brazil, Hong Kong, and the UK.

At least they are doing a sequel and not a prequel like with "Legally Blonde.' I still have my doubts about it. They will probably try and downplay the fact that she is rich and spoiled and that was part of the fun of the first movie. Last thing anyone wants from something like this would be a extended lecture about income inequality or anything like that.

That is a theme best served for more serious drama's. Not "Clueless." Also the first movie was a spin on Jane Austen's novel "Emma." So it makes sense if Cher is playing matchmaker again but this time for her daughter. Watching Cher try and help while tying to figure out the complicated nature of modern dating could be fun.

Of course it also brings in the question of Stacey Dash. I can already feel the internet drama to come. It should be noted that Dash no longer supports Trump and now considers herself apolitical. Not that such details will matter to the internet when she is brought back or not brought back for the show. The content creators will have a might feast on this story I suspect.

Not everyone has to come back... and Brittany Murphy can't. :( Donald Faison might have a conflict if it films at the same time as Scrubs. Paul Rudd might cost too much. How many people do you still hang out with 30 years later?

Paramount and Warner might end up competing against each other for A Nightmare on Elm Street. Paramount made a deal with the Craven estate for U.S. rights to Craven's original screenplay, but Warner owns the international rights of the franchise and wouldn't be limited to the confines first movie like Paramount. Warner has also approached Lee Cronin to make it.

Paul Rudd starred in a low-budget A24 film with Jenna Ortega last year, so returning could be an option if the script is good enough.

Alien Romulus sequel might be dead.

If Warner doesn't sign Robbie, Gosling and Gerwig to a Barbie sequel by December, the rights go back to Mattel. And since it was a juggernaut hit and the talent did not have sequels in their contracts, it's gonna be expensive and Zaslav is balking at their asking prices. If it returns to Mattel, they can't make a movie that has anything to do with the first movie.

Sam Raimi is going to produce and the Final Destination: Bloodlines directors are going to direct a movie based on Stephen King's novel Desperation.

I don't think I would bring any of them back as regulars. But try and get most of them back as cameo's. Rudd can also be her husband who is in Paris or something for business reasons. Maybe reduce his cameo to a phone call if that is all you can get back.

Those that I would bring back would be.
Rudd
Dash
Faison
Breckin Meyer
Elisa Donovan
Dan Hedaya
Twink Caplan
Julie Brown
Wallace Shawn.

Hedaya being a grandpa and Shawn maybe as the daughters now high school principle might be the two I would have the biggest roles for. Donovan as maybe her closest friend still living near her.

Rudd and Faison probably would be hard to get for a big role. Meyer,Caplan and Brown only warrant a cameo really. Dash hasn't acted in years. Even if you wanted her for a big role I am not sure she would be able to deliver with the acting at his point.

You do also need to find a means of paying respect to Brittany Murphy. I would hope they would go though with the 'King of the Hill" approach and not having the character be dead because the actor is no longer with us.

The morning show will end next year with its 5th season. Not counting the planned 3rd season of Reese's HBO show, there will be a complete acting vacancy. Actually, there will be a vacancy for Legally Blonde 3, or perhaps a TV show set years after the second film. Who knows, maybe they're planning to cancel Legally Blonde 3 and make this show instead; they won't just stop at the Elle TV show.
