The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Given Oscar Isaac's experience with Star Wars, I'd expect him to stay a galaxy far, far away from anything that smacks remotely of franchise work, at least where he'd be expected to show his face, not just lend his voice.

His embarrassed face as he had to deliver the line “somehow...Palpatine returned” will haunt me.

You could not beat Christine Ricci as Wednesday. I'd have watched a sequel starring her.

I'm still creeped out that the only adult character, Gomez, whose actor, John Astin, is still kicking is also the first character from the '91/93 films whose actor, Raul Julia, has died.

Some executive taking the "third (or fourth?) time's the charm" saying a little too much to heart? Ugh. Of all the possible things for a tv studio to throw money at, why choose this? If it's a Fox show, I can't even imagine who they'll cast as Rourke--probably a blonde, 17 year-old girl.

I only saw a few episodes, but I remember liking the Malcolm McDowell version. It leaned very heavily into the supernatural aspects that the original series sort of glossed over.

Night Court Reboot/Sequel in the works

The new series will feature (Harry) Stone's daughter Abby, "who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding." Stone was played by Harry Anderson in the original, and the actor passed away in 2018.

Produced by Melissa Rauch (who, I guess, will also star) and Dan Rubin (who I first mistook for Dave Rubin, which would have turned me off that show in a hard way). John Larroquette returns as Dan Fielding.

I'm actually not sure about this. I'm pretty sure it won't be as good as the original, but then the original was really, really good, so even if it's not as good, it might still be really good. Sure, Larroquette's involved, that's nice, but still. This new version will have to win me over.

Not to mention the recent movie that went in a horror direction, and I don't think it was particularly well received. And after that, it still feels too soon.

I like the part when the guy goes "Your chasing ghosts." Looks like the show is going to have a little, supernatural element to it! Get It! I said Supernatural like his old show. Still I don't like the new brother from what I saw. Bring back Dean.

That is an odd article omitting some crucial details. They don't mention Landon's son at all, and so the article makes it sound like Landon himself will be coming back from the grave to reprise his role which is kind of hilarious.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard about a potential Firefly revival...

And really, a PG rated "Disney-ified" Firefly? I'm actually kind of morbidly curious to see how awful it would be, and I'm trying to think up Disney Channel actors they could recast as everyone.
