Even better... A mod actually posted back on page 6 (post #106), suggesting the discussion be taken over to the "Kelvin Universe" section, but then, four posts later (post #110), that same mod was chiming in with their own thoughts on the digression. That basically caused the tangent to keep going.

Moderators are allowed to post their points-of-view on the discussions going on.

Huh? I never said they weren't. I was simply pointing out how a mod offering their opinion seemed to give tacit endorsement of the very tangent, just a moment earlier, that that same mod recommended be carried on in a different location.

It was in a follow-on post, though. Not the first post they made. As a result, it made it look like they were endorsing the tangent -- especially as they gave no additional comment or reminder about the off-topic nature of the discussion. So that made it seem like it was okay for things to continue. They haven't been back in this thread since then, either.

Well, mods are on a volunteer basis so I have no doubt we will be seeing the mod back shortly. And I don't think it will be pretty.
