LURRY: Captain Kirk, this is Nilz Baris. He's out from Earth to take charge of the development project on Sherman's Planet.

KIRK: And that gives you the authority to put an entire quadrant on defense alert?

 

[LeadHead]

Darvin: Mister Barris is the Federation Undersecretary in charge of agricultural affairs in this quadrant.

 

[Alienesse]

SPOCK: That gives him the authority.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: Oh.

 

[Alienesse]

BARIS: This is my assistant, Arne Darvin.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: And this is my First Officer, Mister Spock.

 

[Alienesse]

LURRY: Mister Spock.

 

[LeadHead]

Barris: And now Captain, I want all available security guards. I want them posted near the storage compartments.

 

[Alienesse]

KIRK: Storage compartments? Storage compartments?

 

[LeadHead]

Darvin: The storage compartments containing the Quatrotriticale.

 

[Brian]

KIRK: What? What? What's quadrotriticale? Wheat. So what?

 

[LeadHead]

Baris: Quatrotriticale is not what, Captain. Of course I wouldn't expect you or Mister Spock to know about such things, but Quatrotriticale is a rather-

SPOCK: Quadrotriticale is a high-yield grain, a four-lobed hybrid of wheat and rye. A perennial, also, I believe. Its root grain, triticale, can trace its ancestry all the way back to twentieth century Canada .

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: Mister Spock, you've made your point.

 

[Brian]

LURRY: Quadrotriticale is the only Earth grain that grows on Sherman's Planet. We have several tons of it here on the station. It's very important that grain gets to Sherman's Planet safely. Mr. Baris thinks that Klingon agents may try to sabotage it.

Kirk: You issued a priority one distress call for a couple of tons of wheat?
