The Top 376 Films Of All Time So Far, Mostly Ten By Ten

But that's enough channelling Adam West for the time being.

340. Julius Caesar (1953)
339. Cloverfield (2008)
338. Sisters (1973)
337. Phantasm (1979)
336. Rio Bravo (1959)
335. Bowling for Columbine (2002)
334. The Package (1989)
333. The Stepford Wives (1975)
332. Attack (1956)
331. Son of Rambow (2008)

I'd hesitate to call Phantasm garbage, but it's an utterly unmemorable horror film and it is astounding that the series warranted three sequels.

Shamefully, I've never seen Rio Bravo. I have a lot of gaps when it comes to the Howard Hawks canon.

After HALLOWEEN in particular, producers got the regrettable idea they could sequelize every single successful horror concept once a year as opposed to two, and run their idea into the ground every single Halloween. SAW is the worst example, though PHANTASM waited roughly ten years for its first weak follow-up.

Last year Angus Scrimm (the Tall Man from PHANTASM) appeared at a local horror convention, sitting next to Lance Henriksen. He looked remarkably like a hotel concierge.

RIO BRAVO, of course, is the all-time favorite of Quentin Tarantino's list........and the inspiration for ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13. But it was HIGH NOON which inspired RIO BRAVO....and Joseph McCarthy who inspired HIGH NOON.

Which did not directly inspire these next ten.

330. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919)
329. The Muppet Movie (1979)
328. Romeo and Juliet (1968)
327. Closer (2004)
326. King Kong (1933)
325. Point Blank (1967)
324. White Heat (1949)
323. Outland (1981)
322. Hot Fuzz (2007)
321. Lost and Delirious (2001)

this is a joke thread right? Hot Fuzz is better than King Kong and Dr. Caligari? i know people have different tastes in films but...wow.

The Incredible Mr. Limpet and The Love Bug better be in the top ten!

Indeed.

Favorites as opposed to best....while using the AFI ''Best'' countdown-style. Favorites or bests, it's all open to debate.

The first time I saw HOT FUZZ, I thought ''hmmm.''
The second time: ''This is a comic masterpiece.'' Nothing like a little girl-on-girl. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!

CLOSER gets a place on the list due to its excellent script and the always excellent Clive Owen, who gets to tell off Julia Roberts in spectacular fashion,,,,while remaining married to her character.

Would you feel better if I promised you may not have seen the last of KING KONG?:bolian:

10. Coyote Ugly
09. Transformers : Revenge Of The Fallen
08. Transformers
07. Bad Boys II
06. The Island
05. Armageddon
04. The Rock
03. Pearl Harbor
02. Bad Boys
01. Transformers : Dark Of The Moon

:vulcan:

These where all Michael Bay films or in the case of 'Coyote Ugly' a film he apparently appeared in. Next up...Will Smith. ;)

20. I, Robot
19. Wild Wild West
18. Six Degrees of Separation
17. I Am Legend
16. Ali
15. Enemy Of The State
14. Men In Black II

I agree completely NOW. I didn't always. Opinions can alter with times. Rest assured you'll not find Jackson's remake on this list. This is the sole time I will preemptively rule out a film.

JetFire: your second list has another 10 percent overlap with mine. But, um.....it's Hancock.:rommie:

I liked it. [edit] fixed! :p

320. Wings (1927)
319. The Detective (1968)
318. American History X (1998)
317. The Gold Rush (1925)
316. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
315. Warlock (1959)
314. Religulous (2008)
313. Hamburger Hill (1987)
312. Lean On Me (1989)
311. An Education (2009)

Another oldie I finally saw for the first time last weekend was THE OMEGA MAN.....surprisingly good, but seen too late for this list.

Hmmm.

310. Fantasia (1940)
309. A Patch of Blue (1965)
308. Uncommon Valor (1983)
307. Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971)
306. Young Frankenstein (1974)
305. Shane (1953)
304. United 93 (2006)
303. Carrie (1976)
302. Angels With Dirty Faces (1938)
301. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)

If we were to have a battle of the saddest all-time endings, ESCAPE and CARRIE would be neck-and-neck. I still haven't forgiven that nasty soap opera actor Dr. Hasselin for what he did. And man, what a death-fall that was for Roddy McDowall.

Next up...Movies with Téa Leoni :adore: Actually I should put her movies in the top 10...she has one up there but...anyways.

30. Ghost Town
29. Tower Heist
28. House of D
27. You Kill Me
26. A League of Their Own
25. Spanglish
24. Fun with Dick and Jane
23. Jurassic Park III
22. The Family Man
21. Deep Impact

:techman:

Well.....I liked DEEP IMPACT, but I didn't love it. And due to my near-total ambivalence for blonde American actresses not named Cynthia Geary, I must announce this time there is zero overlap. May I recommend the films of, say, Benny Hill or Kane Hodder instead?

What!? There are some good movies here...A League of Their Own she had very little impact...but Tom Hanks, Geena Davis...Madonna!? I would mention Rosie O'Donnell...but that isn't a selling point...Lori Petty? :( Still a damn fine film. :techman: I stick with 21-25. :D

[edit] Up next are either the films of Martin Lawrence or Nicolas Cage. :p
