How could you hate First Contact? That is universally hailed a top 2 or 3 Star Trek movie ever.

Seriously; what do people not get about "I like/dislike this movie" being 100% subjective?
It doesn't matter if 90% of a particular group likes or dislikes a movie, you still might enjoy it or not, depending on your individual taste. We, unlike the Borg, are not a hive mind.

For what it's worth I can't stand First Contact either. It was the beginning of the end of the Borg, turning them from this mysterious, alien menace into basically space zombies led by a cyberpunk dominatrix. Zefram Cochrane was annoying, Picard jumped around and screamed like a howler monkey and Data faced a choice between gaining emotions or helping his friends yet again. The rest of the characters get some token scenes but are largely ignored. To me it's not a very good movie.

And for hat it's worth I like Nemesis better than it. I'd even say I like Nemesis the best of the TNG movies (which is not very much praise).

Fair enough.

I appreciate you making those points, I disagree with almost all of them, but they are yours to make.

I just asked a question, I've heard people blast all 3 of the other TNG movies, but it is extremely rare to have the dark and action filled First Contact carved up like you just did.
The question isn't asked that often. I think it's often assumed that First Contact is universally popular. It's not - at least on here. We can be a contrary lot !

Personally, I wish Undiscovered Country had been the last Trek movie...

I liked and disliked First Contact. Yes, cool with the Enterprise having to go back in time to fight the Borg off before the destroyed humanity that never quite made it. No, because why would the Borg choose that time? Kind of a dumb, too convenient choice. No, Data and the Borg Queen was a stupid, redundant waste of time. Yes, yes, Zefram Cochran breaking the warp barrier and the Vulcan's arrival gave me chills.

I'd take an extra season, and I'd have done it then too.

Not only is Trek best when it's on TV, I'll take 26 episodes per year vs a two hour movie every few years every time.

Agree with this completely!

Loved my weekly fix of Star Trek. I've gone from having grown up watching TNG/DS9/VOY as well as the movies to now waiting ever few years for crap reboots.

I have to give props to the OP, this one's actually a toughie.

Unlike quite a few people around here, I actually quite enjoyed S7 of TNG, so a S8 might have been worthwile.

Not only is trek best when on tv, it even feels like its on tv when you see it in a movie theater.

I've disagree with that criticism even though it's one that gets tossed around in fandom a lot. With the exception of Insurrection all of the Trek films felt cinematic to me and possessed adequate scope.

I can't find any redeeming qualities in Nemesis even though some people seem to.
