The title of the new series

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine-The Next Generation :D
Yes please!

Star Trek: There And Back Again
Joss Whedon's Star Trek (man that would be excellent, all hail The Whedon :))
Star Trek: FarGate Galactica 5
Star Trek: First Voyage (the adventures of Captain April)
Star Trek: Titan (following the first command of the Enterprise's beautiful and enigmatic Number One)

I never had a problem with Enterprise being just "Enterprise," but I guess I'm the only one.
I liked it when it was just "Enterprise" too. "Star Trek: Enterprise" sounds like a fan production.

It really depends on what the premise of the show is. They could make it something like "To Boldly Go," but without context of what it's about, that's pretty pointless. And there is the issue of how Enterprise was handled.
I don't want that but I like it in the Man of Steel/The Dark Knight kinda way. I was trying to figure out what the Trek equivalent to those would be.
Where No One Has Gone Before seems to fit.

Again, I'm left wondering what's wrong with colons. There are dozens of spin-offs in the last few years that have used them or other subtitle methods. Those that haven't used them have either done a play on words of the original, or just completely renamed it. But none of them ever keep the same name. I wouldn't expect that out of this or any spin-off TV series.

Personally. I don't think theres anything "wrong" with colons. It's an unfortunate perception thing with allot of the general public. Lets say you tell someone at work about the new show and say 'Have you seen Star Trek : Blank, " . Some will react.."oh...there making another one", and either consciously or subconsciously think they would need to watch the older series first. Another reason is any title with a colon to some gives off a commercial "beating a dead horse" vibe. To Star Trek fans like us who know better it's not a big thing, but I'm afraid to the non-fans it can give off an "overkill" stigma.

But...If they do go with the colon/subtitle :

Stat Trek New Voyages
Star Trek Returns
Star Trek Infinite (using a variant of the IDIC symbol would be a cool logo tie in to this title)
Star Trek Frontiers
Star Trek Unlimited
Star Trek Continues
Star Trek Voyages
Star Trek Reborn
Star Trek Reawakening (subliminal tie in with the new Star Wars film which is all the rage right now)
Star Trek Begins

...do you really think a 23 year old, who was 11 when Enterprise was canceled and 5 when BermanTrek was on cares?

Star Trek. Short. Simple. No need to differentiate. No one is going to confuse this with TOS.

No bloody colons.

Do you really think a 23 year old is going to care about whether or not there are bloody colons?

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The Continuing Mission

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine-The Next Generation :D

Star Trek: (insert name of ship or space station the show is set on)

Or how about change the name of the whole franchise to "Star Journey", sounds less geeky. :D Just kidding. :)

Somehow, "Star Journey" sounds like one of those cheesy Roger Corman sci-fi movies of the 1970s, with mediocre acting, lousy special effects, and polyester jumpsuits everywhere.

:wtf:

A 23 year old shouldn't have to worry about anything like that for at least a few more decades. :ack:

And last but not least, the show is going to be there on a list right next to the other Star Trek shows. Yeah, it will have a different icon, but they are probably going to want to make them textually distinct as well to avoid any confusion, even if it's only a small amount.

You raise a good point. I've never used a streaming service, but are the offerings listed alphabetically? In which case, you would probably want to the have the title began with STAR TREK so that it would be "shelved" with the other series.

Or is original programming listed under another heading than reruns of old shows?

Sometimes they are listed alphabetically, sometimes there are other methods of sorting. A lot of times new shows will be featured at the top or on an intro screen.

You can look and see what shows are available on All Access here.

The way they've done it there is sorted alphabetically (not sure why TNG comes after VOY though), but it should be fairly obvious from the icon which is which, at least to viewers in the know. Casual, first-time viewers might click on the wrong thing if there are two just labeled as Star Trek. They're probably going to want to avoid that confusion, and you bring up a good point in that they may want to see it grouped with the others.

I like Star Trek: Frontiers or Star Trek: The Continuing Mission.

The Continuing Mission might be daunting to newbies. Kinda suggests that this picks up where the earlier shows left off and that you're coming late to the table--which is absolutely the last thing the new show should want to do.

STAR TREK: ALL ACCESS

I'd bet my last quatloo that it will just be "Star Trek". To that end, whatever form it takes substantively, it will define what Trek is and what it becomes for the next generation of fans. I just hope I recognize it, because some day, I won't. Not because I've become old and cranky (well, maybe a little), but because for the series to thrive, it will need to fit into the sensibilities of the present. The 1960s, out of which "our" Trek sprung, are LOOOOOONG over.
