Y'know, I'm surprised DIS and SNW never jumped to introducing Emony Dax or Audrid Dax right away for legacy nostalgia cred as with Sarek and Spock, but that is a discussion for another thread.
Let's see two characters that have been around for 60 years and well-known outside of hardcore Star Trek fandom as opposed to a couple of characters who appeared in DS9 and are probably only known by a few hardcore fans...

Who says there aren't fans on the other shows? They've pulled enough deep references on all of them.
I think bringing a Dax on when it isn't relevant to the story would be too small universe.
Also it can't be widely know they're a symbiote without contradicting TNG.
That would be funny though, if they had a whole episode featuring a Dax host, with no hint that they're more than they seem, nothing implying or outright saying they're a symbiote, and only people who have watched DS9 would understand the significance of the character.

Dax just isn't the same without Terry Farrell.
I always preferred Nicole deBoer. To me, Ezri had far more personality, while Jadzia always came across as a little too perfect and emotionally distant. Terry Farrell's performance often felt wooden or monotone, which made it hard for me to connect with the character. I know I'm in the minority, but if I'm picking between the two, Nicole wins every time... and twice on Sunday.
I love the interplay between Brooks and Farrell. It clicked for me immediately.
The Jadzia you describe sounds more like the version from the first two seasons before Ira Steven Behr finally figured out to write for her. She was great in the role from seasons three to six.
Ezri has grown on me a lot over the years to the point where I thought she was the MVP of season seven on a recent rewatch.
I liked Ezri. Part of me wishes she'd been introduced a year sooner.
