Spoilers The Ships of Lower Decks

Wait, wut? Was this stated somewhere by the showrunners? NOT having Riker be the one charging to Picard's rescue would have been an absolutely awful decision. I was much happier with the "Am I supposed to stay in the forest making pizzas?" line, as opposed to the one-dimensional "Fucking Picard Fuckity-fuck-fuck!" we'd have gotten from Clancy.
Thematically it makes more sense.

Either one is fine by me.

Well apparently Admiral Clancy was meant to lead the fleet, so that probably explains it.
Oh, they reused her lines, that explains the swearing!

Jokes aside, Frakes wasn’t originally meant to act in Picard, they added his (and sirtis’) role while already filming, so this makes a lot of sense.
Frakes also said he was happy it wasn't the Titan. I wonder if that's because he already knew the ending of Lower Decks
I seriously doubt that.

Of course she was. She was the angry by-the-book admiral foil

She was depicted as having to make an extremely difficult decision which would have disastrous consequences no matter what option she took; as having made the decision she did to avoid the potential breakup of the Federation; as feeling implicitly guilty for her choice but unwilling to admit this; as being understandably angry at Picard's self-righteousness and arrogance; as being nonetheless willing to investigate the substance of his claims in spite of her entirely justified anger; and as being willing to set aside personal differences when the full picture emerged.

That's a decent amount of characterization to pack into three scenes across two episodes. It's not True Detective, but it's also not one-dimensional.

to Picard's rebellion,

What rebellion? Picard never rebelled; he requested re-activation of his commission and command of a ship and crew. That's hardly rebellion.

who finally realizes she's wrong and gives in to his outrageous demands

Picard never made made outrageous demands. In particular, his request for Starfleet backup towards the end of the series was completely proportional to the severity of the crisis he was facing, and Clancy agreed with this.

Of course she was. She was the angry by-the-book admiral foil to Picard's rebellion, who finally realizes she's wrong and gives in to his outrageous demands (and the story ends happily). And she has a potty mouth.
She really wasn't. She wasn't just following the rules just because. She felt that Picard was ignorant of the larger implications of his request while she had the bigger picture.

What outrageous demands did he ask? Support for a planet requesting aid against an attacking force? That's outrageous?

And, she says "fuck" once. Apparently that word is not common for people and it is shocking that people use it because it comes up so often.

I didn't mind it not being the Titan. Since Riker is retired, the Titan would presumably have a new captain. She wouldn't just be waiting around until Riker decided to come back.

My head canon is that the ships we saw in the finale were a rapid-reaction force of lightly crewed, heavily automated vessels. If the Prometheus could destroy a couple of warbirds whilst crewed by two EMHs, twenty years of improvements should easily allow for that.

I seriously doubt that.

Which part?

Frakes did know about the Titan's appearence in LD, even before some of the main cast. He accidentally spoiled Jack Quaid. Well specifically he spoiled that the season ended with Boilmer being transfered to it.

And "fucking", so that's two. It is common nowadays and still shocking enough that parrots have to be removed from zoos when they curse too much XD
I understand those who are irritated by the head of Starfleet using such language, after TVH and other episodes made it clear that people either don't swear as much, or use 'softer' words.

"You Klingon bastard killed my son."

Yup, much softer.

The offensiveness of swearwords is inherently subjective
And? I was more discussing whether or not Starfleet officers swear, not offensiveness.

If we're talking about offensiveness, Picard's "not good enough, damn it!" bothers me far more.

I had a similar thought about that fleet. Starfleet FINALLY got wise (only took them a couple hundred years) and decided those "only ship in the quadrant" scenarios were happening way too often. After the Borg incursions and the Dominion War it makes perfect sense they'd have something like this ready to go. And after the loss of the Martian fleet yards they probably would have streamlined design, as well.

This is not a baroque era for the Federation.

I don’t think Frakes knows the end of the series, mostly because I don’t think an end has been written at all yet.

End of next season maybe, but I don’t think so: I suspect he will only be in one or two episodes near the beginning.

that was perfect.

Words have meaning and they have weight, when you start using swear words too often they lose both. If you notice, that (and, I seem to remember, during STTUC) is probably the only time Kirk uses any kind of foul language. Conversely, swearing is used again but for fun in TVH, exactly because 23rd century people think 20th century language requires overusing them.
