Um no offence but what the hell does your, admittedly regretable condition have with what we're discussing? We're disussing the portrayal of homosexuality in Doctor Who and you launch into this sudden "I have Asperger's Syndrome, people like me don't get support in the media" speech!?

Wow this crap again! I saw nothing wrong with the scene, it was written to be 'adult implied ' mean that young kids would not pick up on it the actual interpetation. There was nothing direct about it, now if Jack had said 'lets go fuck', then yeah there maybe some issues more for sexuallity reasons vs gay/straight reasons. So what's different about this vs lets say, the old lesbian couple in Gridlock or when Jack was hitting on the guy Utopia.

iirc, in the Confidential RTD says that he wanted Jack to have some companionship and comfort after he has lost his family, friends and job. I think that seems a sweet, humanitarian thing to want for someone.
I didn't think it was inappropriate because if I were watching this with the younger members of my family, I'd want them to be aware that there are straight and gay and bi people in the world and that in my family we find that wholly acceptable.

Right, because not understanding your line of thinking, whether it's directly related to your Asperger's or is just bigotry, is in fact being prejudice against you for a condition in which you have no choice.
I liked the scene. Jack has been through hell, he deserves some happiness and from the look of it Alonzo has been through a rough spot. The Doctor is helping two people who have helped him in the past.
As for kids seeing it. Either they are too young to even be aware of it and just see Jack getting a friend or something or they are aware of it and know that Jack likes men and women. Kids are fairly smart and the majority would be aware of gay people. I don't see how any harm could come out of the scene.

The scene was not inappropriate, and for a scene that lasted all of 30 seconds in an episode that lasted 72 minutes, I would hardly say it's worth mentioning. How in the world did 30 seconds outweigh 71 minutes 30 seconds of everything else?

Why is it unfortunate?
I think it's funny that people are upset by this; it was quite subtle compared to some of Jack's previous appearances.
Yeah, I found the music jarring as well, they should have had Gold compose something new, maybe a nice little song in the vein of "Song for Ten".

I thought it was a lovely scene. It was nice subtle reference to Children of Earth and The Doctor helping Jack through the pain. So what if it's two guys?
